Independently responsible for ensuring that effective ALARA techniques including lead shielding, flushing, robotics, etc., are established in all documents that control work in the radiologically posted area. Responsible for keeping abreast of new industry techniques and applying these in field work at the station. Driving and championing ALARA and dose-saving techniques in the planning stages of jobs and tasks to keep overall station exposure low. These techniques are documented in the Radiation Work Permit that covers the work. Responsible for independently completing the in-progress and post-job reviews of field work to ensure dose reduction techniques are being effectively used and that person-rem exposure goals are not exceeded. Accountable for establishing and tracking RP departmental goals in the areas of radiation exposure, radioactive material controls events, high radiation area events, event-free clock resets, etc. This includes establishing programs to monitor and improve performance in these areas. Responsible for identifying and incorporating industry lessons learned, operating experiences, INPO good practices, etc., into radiological job coverage documents including the RWP and ALARA reviews. In conjunction with the RP Supervisors, may be required to oversee work in the field and perform in-field observations to improve performance. Independently manage larger scale RP related projects. REQUIRED: BS Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline (PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent) and a minimum of 3-5 years RP or Chemistry related nuclear experience/or equivalent education/experience in the field of operational RP. In-depth knowledge of Radiation Protection and ALARA fundamentals. Thorough understanding of plant operations and systems. Good oral and written communication skills. Build and maintain data bases using Word and Excel/good computer skills. Must meet Nuclear?s requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.
