CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER I Provides support to more experienced construction engineering personnel by performing routine construction engineering assignments. Assigned to a discipline position within a construction organization in an administrative or technical capacity. Reviews and interprets working drawings to determine if information is adequate for successful completion of construction. Completes assigned tasks under routine supervision and technical direction. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Assists in the preparation of procedures and administrative and technical documents. Maintains administrative and technical documents and files, as assigned. Prepares inspection reports, maintains records of inspections, and continuously informs others on inspection results. Inputs to quantity tracking databases and other computer databases, as required. Supports supervisory personnel, as assigned, in various phases of inspection on performance of construction and installation of material and equipment. Responsibilities may include: Performing material receiving inspection. Performing construction inspections. Testing of material for conformance to established standards. Providing routine analyses. Assembling data and analysis on inspection problems. Recording results of testing procedures. Strong Wring and computer skills requires. Interaction with other construction groups, as well as Client. Knowledge of and experience in construction procedures and construction management procedures Knowledge of codes and standards, specifically with regard to airport projects, and the necessity of completing projects within the confounds of a working airport. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Educational training in general engineering techniques and procedures gained through courses in a technical engineering discipline, scientific discipline or courses requiring extensive work in developing comprehensive end-result products based on extensive research, AND/OR Actual work experience providing exposure and on-the-job-training in an administrative support position furnishing assistance to engineers or superintendents in the area of quality control or inspection functions. Knowledge of Bechtel's Zero Accident safety program. Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards. Basic knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility. Familiar with Bechtel's Business Ethics handbook and policies. Receives routine supervision in performing assigned duties. Coordinates with other disciplines and departments as required and assigned in addition to working within own discipline. Performs construction tests in addition to performing inspections. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Five-years (5) experience working with quantity take-offs for heavy construction is desired. Valid Driver's License a must. Must be currently authorized to reside and work in the United States. Must have the ability to pass a FBI fingerprint (background) check to receive an Airport Security badge, which is essential to employment. Airport construction project experience preferred. Candidate currently residing in Las Vegas, NV is requested. Degree in Engineering / Construction Management / Business Administration desired or equivalent experience. | |
