Job Description
SENIOR PROJECT CONTROLS ENGINEER II

Supervises cost estimating, analysis, and control activities. Supervises
schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery plan
development activities. Prepares and reviews or supervises the
preparation and presentation of estimates. Supports project
organizational and administrative activities.




Project Description
Strategically located midway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United
Arab Emirates, the Khalifa Port & Industrial Zone (KPIZ) is a mega-
scale, USD 7 billion project, which is underpinning Abu Dhabi's plan to
diversify its economy through the development of new industries. The
KPIZ development covers an area of 60km2 and consists of a manmade port
island located 4.6km offshore, which is linked via causeways and bridges
to an onshore port and a mega-scale industrial zone. Bechtel is
undertaking the role of Program Management Consultant for the project
which is scheduled for completion in late 2012.

General Job Description
Assists Risk Managers in the administration of project insurance and
risk financing programs. Conducts studies, reviews and analyzes data,
and prepares reports for use in measuring the impact of manageable risks
and methods to treat these risks.

Initiates and maintains regular/ongoing contact and working
relationships with senior managers, department managers and in-house
legal counsel regarding the status of insured litigation and related
insurance issues.
Initiates and maintains regular contact and working relationships with
insurance carrier managers and insurance adjusters to support active
resolution of insured litigation.
Maintains occasional contact with external customer representatives in
responding to inquiries regarding insured litigation issues.
Undertakes routine contact with supervisors and employees to obtain
information required to resolve insured litigation issues.
Reviews legal documents, correspondence and insurance policies to
confirm whether project's insurance coverage(s) applies to individual
claims/legal actions.
Tenders claims to insurance carriers based on analysis of project's
insurance policies/arrangements.
Participates in the selection of outside counsel with Risk Managers and
insurance carrier representatives and in development of claims
resolution strategies/settlement positions in concert with Risk
Managers, insurance carriers representatives and outside counsel.
Monitors the status of assigned cases in coordination with insurance
carrier representatives.
Serves as project representative in assigned settlement conferences and
mediation sessions.
Prepares regular reports on pending litigation for senior management.
Serves as staff back-up for processing claims covering electronic data
processing equipment, third party property damage and worker's
compensation insurance coverage.

Position Skills
Demonstrated experience in performing risk management on major
construction projects
Ability to interpret key metrics that suggest adverse trends and
understand potential implications.
Familiarity and understanding of project execution process, quality
control and assurance functions
Requires ability to interface and effectively coordinate with Department
Managers to assess program risks, develop risk strategies and identify
opportunities.
Requires excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving
skills.

Other Remarks/Qualifications
B.S or equivalent degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited
university.
Relevant experience in major projects in the infrastructure or energy
industry.
Experience in similar position with the PMC's organization.
