Job Description
SUPERVISING CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER I

Responsible for the organization and direction of construction
engineering personnel and activities relating to construction
engineering, subcontracts, and engineering liaison to the design
functional group. Interprets design drawings and specifications.
Supervises field verification of materials. Provides technical
direction to construction engineers and superintendents in a wide range
of construction engineering and design functions relating to multi-
discipline engineering in an area or to a single discipline on the
overall project.

On a medium to large-sized project, performs the duties of a lead
engineer in an area, coordinating and directing a variety of
disciplines, or performs duties as a Project Field Engineer or Project
Field Quality Control Engineer, coordinating activities related to the
operation of assigned operating section of the jobsite.



Project Description

Strategically located midway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United
Arab Emirates, the Khalifa Port & Industrial Zone (KPIZ) is a mega-
scale, USD7 billion project, which is underpinning Abu Dhabi's plan to
diversify its economy through the development of new industries. The
KPIZ development covers an area of 60km2 and consists of a manmade port
island located 4.6km offshore, which is linked via causeways and bridges
to an onshore port and a mega-scale industrial zone. Bechtel is
undertaking the role of Program Management Consultant for the project
which is scheduled for completion in late 2012.

Position Duties/ responsibilities

Review of Design Consultants and main Contractors? System deliverables
(Specification and drawing packages) for the KPIZ Project. This will
cover the following System categories:-
Telecommunication sub-systems: Radio, Telephony, PA (Public Address),
CCTV.
Cabling and system infrastructure: Structured Cabling, optical fibre
network backbone, IT LAN/WAN equipment.
Control: Fire detection, Terminal Operating System.
Security: High level system addressing international terrorism with
alarm/alert capability based on abnormal behaviour recognition.
Coordinate transmission and distribution of specifications, standards
and practices. Comment on Project design documents. Supply design
consultants with information for all design issues including network
studies and interfaces.
Provide support to Construction Department and field changes. Review
construction shop drawings and submittals for materials.
Participate in meetings with Contractors, Tenants and Client.
Identify, initiate and track Trend issues as and when they may occur.

Position Skills
Fully knowledgeable about international codes, standards and recommended
practices to be applied for construction projects during FEED & EPC
phase of execution
Hands-on experience in review of design and engineering documents
Able to effectively interface with and manage engineering consultants

Other Remarks/ Qualifications

B.S. or equivalent degree in the relevant engineering discipline from an
accredited university

A good level of relevant experience in major projects in the
infrastructure or energy industry.

Experience in review of design and engineering documents.

Experience in similar position on other Bechtel projects preferred.
