Job Description
Position Summary Originator – Structured Transactions and Renewable Energy - The primary job purpose is to identify, negotiate and close structured transactions related to generation assets, off-takes and financial products. Such transactions will not only be for conventional generation resources but also renewable energy resources. The originator will have experience and working knowledge on structured transactions related to generation resources and will need to have experience with respect to the regulatory and policy framework related to renewable energy (RPS, rules and technology).

The job purpose is to further grow and develop PPL’s wholesale marketing and trading portfolio. Such growth and development will be in the area of standard and structured transactions related to the wholesale energy market and shall include, but not be limited to: asset/energy management services, power purchase agreements, load auctions and RFPs, longer-term physical and financial tolls as related to conventional and renewable energy resources, energy management services, options and related structured products and long-term hedging related to the generation asset portfolio. Primary Responsibilities 1. Develop business relationships and opportunities with wholesale energy market participants and renewable energy companies/developers.
2. Identify opportunities for wholesale standard and structured transactions, as indicated above.
3. Identify and develop product structures that meet the needs of the marketplace and align with our core asset, trading, and risk objectives.
4. Close transactions to successfully build the marketing portfolio in a manner synergistic with our financial and risk objectives.
5. Lead transaction process related to opportunities such that transaction is effectively managed throughout the EnergyPlus and PPL organization.
6. Participate in market fundamental analysis based on market research, market intelligence, transaction analysis to drive process which enhances the business unit’s ability to succeed in market activities.
7. Participate in special studies and analyses to improve operations and contribute to profitability.
8. Direct and develop other specialists and staff professionals, as necessary. Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration. Basic Qualifications Three years experience in one or several of these areas: Wholesale energy transactions, deal development, analysis, portfolio analysis and strategy, energy negotiations and execution:

a. Wholesale power markets and their related market fundamentals in the regions of MISO, NYISO, NEPOOL, and PJM.

b. Wholesale products; energy, capacity, renewable energy, ancillary services or other market products inherent in an ISO environment.

c. Product valuations, financial analysis, risk analysis and other measures related to portfolio management and hedging strategies.

Strong business and energy market knowledge as related to trading and structured transactions.

Strong analytical skills to analyze opportunities and develop solutions.

Strong management skills to coordinate processes effectively across the organization.

Oral and written communication skills to communicate and achieve objectives

Team and people skills to listen to feedback, identify solutions and build consensus.

B.S. in Engineering or Business or a related degree Preferred Qualifications History of successful structured transactions related to asset acquisitions, asset services and off-takes/Power Purchase Agreements.

Knowledge of the renewable energy industry, its regulations and its market fundamentals.
