Job Description
Position Summary This position is responsible for performing, under supervision, engineering assignments that are varied and may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involve limited responsibility. Specific job positions may include assignments in planning, designing and overseeing of the construction, installation, operation and maintenance of electric components systems, and facilities used in the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy. These tasks are normally technical in nature, and require an understanding of concepts required to evaluate alternatives and propose engineering solutions. Activities include assisting in routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems, and engineering studies. Primary Responsibilities 1. Work under the direction of others in a variety of engineering functional areas either in field locations or in the home office. Under supervision, they perform a variety of work, that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility.

2. Under supervision, participate in smaller engineering projects or well defined areas of larger projects. Investigate, evaluate, and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs and recommendations that solve ongoing problems.

3. Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using well defined engineering procedures.

4. Develop innovative procedures, improved design recommendations or new or better equipment purchase recommendations.

5. Interface with other groups, and present the results of the work groups efforts.

6. Understand and practice company safety and industrial hygiene policies. Incumbents must be aware of safety rules and environmental hazards and take appropriate action to ensure safety to personnel, the public and the environment.

7. Work effectively in a team environment.

8. Continually expand and improve technical and business skill sets. Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration. Basic Qualifications 1. Four year degree in the specific engineering discipline or a related science degree. Preferred Qualifications 1. Fundamentals of Engineering exam is preferred for Support Engineer.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred for the Senior Engineer position.
3. Must understand and be able to practice the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the particular field of specialization required of the job.
4. Must develop an adequate knowledge of department and work group programs, policies, and procedures. Also are expected to gain a knowledge of regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
5. Ability to perform a structured evaluation of alternatives, demonstrate originality of thought and ingenuity are required.
6. Ability to effectively communicate and provide technical direction to non-technical individuals.
