Xcel Energy will recruit at the following events for this opening (Colorado School of Mines - 2/9; University of Colorado-Denver - 2/16; University of Denver - 2/17). Applicants’ resumes received during these events will be the primary candidate pool considered for interview selection.
EE/ME Engineering majors will be considered (2 openings) as well as and Environmental/Chemical Engineering students (1 opening)

Position Summary:

Work with the Engineering staff to support plant projects, both capital and ops/maintenance. Work as an entry level engineering analyst doing tasks spanning all aspects of plant operations including performance/efficiency, emissions control, contract and project management, specifying new and replacement equipment, making process improvement recommendations, supporting requests form operations and maintenance. Through practical field experience and mentoring, successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicant must be enrolled in an ABET accredited mechanical, electrical, chemical or environmental engineering program and have progressed at least through the sophomore year (junior year preferred). Course work in power generation or project management and an interest in the power industry is desirable. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The applicant must be self- motivated, have good mechanical aptitude, and work well with others. Must be able to work safely in a power plant environment (industrial activities, stairs, grating, heights, confined spaces, heat and noise).
Selection criteria may include testing and/or assessment.
