Job Summary: Manages the activities of design engineering project work with design engineering firm(s) and ensures managed activities are conducted in accordance with appropriate regulations and TVA policies and procedures; in a manager to maintain technical integrity of TVA facilities; and to safeguard the health and safety of the general public, the environment and TVA. Primary Responsibilities: º Manages design engineering project work for TVA's Nuclear Plants with design engineering firm(s) to ensure design integrity and compliance with all Nuclear Power and Nuclear Engineering policies and procedures and applicable regulations. º Approves original design and modifications packages from design engineering vendor(s), including design drawings, engineering specifications, calculations, tabulations, requisitions, bills of materials, test documents, procurement specifications and safety analyzes, etc. to ensure product quality from design engineering firm(s). º Documents, evaluates and resolves all conditions adverse to quality in areas of responsibility. º Maintains a motivated, efficient, and effective work force to ensure the timely production of quality engineering deliverables. º Ensures projects are developed and resources allocated to achieve maximum benefit to TVA such that products are adequate, accurate, complete, timely and cost effective. Minimum Eligibility Requirements: º Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or demonstrated equivalence in education, training & experience. º Ten years of Nuclear Power plant experience or equivalent (10 years power plant experience with 7 years nuclear design experience) º SRO or STA training and experience is desired. º Demonstrated skills to effectively coordinate and interact with senior site and corporate management and design engineering firm(s) to resolve project issues in a fashion amenable to both site and TVAN expectations. º Communication of project and corporate expectations to project personnel with the design engineering firm(s) is a critical attribute for the incumbent. º Additionally, effective conflict resolution dealing with personnel, vendor, and senior management issues, are essential to satisfactory performance of the incumbent. º Must have demonstrated ability to supervise personnel, vendors, manage budgets, control projects, and schedules. º Professional Engineers License is desirable. º Must have the ability to analyze complex technical and management problems and determine the most cost-effective solutions. º Must have detailed working knowledge of nuclear power plant design, construction, and maintenance techniques and practices. º Must have working knowledge of upper tier external and internal documents which govern nuclear power plant operations (e.g., 10 CFR, 18 CFR, FSAR, NQAM, etc.) º Must have highly developed interpersonal skills to foster teamwork, influence others toward desired objectives, properly interpret individual's motives and unspoken meanings, and remain adaptable to reach targeted goals. º Must have excellent communication skills to be able to express complex ideas succinctly and clearly, using different perspectives.
