Looking for an exciting internship opportunity in the nuclear industry? "Energize" your future with AREVA!
AREVA is seeking a French Intern to enhance the cross-cultural understanding of our Loss-of-Coolant Accident (LOCA) Safety Analysis group at our Marlborough, MA location. This qualified individual will support the New Plants Process Engineering group. Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting engineers in the Loss-of-Coolant Accident (LOCA) safety analysis group.
  • Performing analyses for the U.S. EPR nuclear power plant design using the S-RELAP5 code, and prepare associated documents and presentations.
Typical Projects This Group May Work On:
  • The New Plants Process Engineering group supports several projects, but its primary focus this fall will be on the U.S. EPR detailed design engineering project.
  • The LOCA safety analysis group will be performing analyses to support the development of emergency procedure guidelines (EPGs) for the plant operators to use to recover control should there be an accident.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this internship opportunity.
  • Enrolled in an Engineering or Scientific discipline program, working toward a BS or MS degree, with strong interest in Nuclear Engineering.
  • Fundamental computer skills (Word, Excel).
  • Programming skills (e.g., but not limited to VBA, C , Java).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical writing.
  • A pro-active approach to problem identification and resolution.
  • Ability and attitude to learn a variety of new procedures, processes, and tools, while maintaining various stages of production.
  • Ability to work well in a high paced atmosphere.
  • Available to work August, 2010 - December, 2010.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Co-op, Intern or work experience in field of study and/or the nuclear industry.
  • Completion of thermal-hydraulic course work including fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Completed one-year of college calculus.
TRAVEL:
Occasional. Potential travel to other AREVA offices in the U.S.
