Job Description

First level supervisor for 10-12 engineers, designers and graphics technicians engaged in providing drawings, calculations and other documents required for electrical utility substation capital projects from 4kV to 765kV consistent with approved project schedules and authorized budgets and resources. Provide substation engineering expertise on substation capital projects from 4kV to 765kV. Projects include but are not limited to insulation coordination studies, lightning shielding studies, grounding studies, NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) compliance, fuse coordination studies, bus and conductor rating studies and specification of substation equipment. Perform planning and engineering activities, and provide technical guidance and direction to assigned staff as required. Support annual development of the capital forecast in support of corporate and business unit strategy, in a manner which effectively organizes and addresses customer and public projects, planned system improvements, system reliability, equipment troubles, facilities rehabilitation and other capital work. Effectively coordinate needs and support of planning groups and other engineering, operations, construction and maintenance groups engaged in or affected by capital improvements. In addition, assist in development of project estimates and internal budgets for assigned activities for substation capital projects from 4kV to 765kV that range from $50,000 to $10,000,000. Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards, and rules of the Company and regulations and procedures as required by federal, state or local regulating agencies. Clearly define performance expectations and review and reward job performance within the organization to align individual performance with business goals. Develop employees to reach their potential and help establish plans to set and achieve challenging career goals. Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the Company's Corporate Compliance Policy. Promote and enforce the Company's Accident Prevention and Safety and Health programs to safeguard employees, the general public and Company property. Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in electrical or civil engineering.

7 years of progressive experience as an Electrical Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Engineer or related engineering occupation. Experience must involve electric utility substation-related activities such as system configurations and schemes, safety practices and codes and substation equipment applications including major electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, reactors, protective relay systems, buswork and conductors. 4 years of experience in the following (may be concurrent with 7 years): 1. Substation or related grounding, shielding and insulation practices and analysis involving appropriate IEEE, ANSI or comparable foreign standards, 2. Cost estimating related to substation capital construction projects including all grading, below grade and above grade work, 3. Project leadership of substation-related capital construction projects including cost auditing, schedule adherence and problem resolution.
