Apprentice Electrician Based in East Kilbride, Scotland (JR-GSSAPP-SCOT) With 71,000 employees in over 100 countries, AREVA offers customers reliable technological solutions for CO2-free generation and electricity transmission and distribution. AREVA's T&D division employs 23,000 people and is an active player around the globe. It designs, manufactures and supplies a complete range of equipment, systems and services for all stages in the transfer of electricity, from the generator to the large end-user. The UK Service Business of AREVA T&D Ltd provides comprehensive worldwide service support and works in partnership with major generation, transmission and distribution utilities plus large commercial and industrial end users to enable them to efficiently manage their electrical infrastructure. Employing 300 people it operates throughout the world with its main focus on providing local UK support. The Role You will be expected to attend a local college where you will study towards the Electrician's Certificate. You will work under the supervision of a fully authorized and trained electrician; ensuring installation is carried out in line with codes of practice, specifications, drawings and manufacturers recommendations. You will be trained and authorized to work on the Scottish Power low voltage network performing various modifications and improvements to the network The Person You should hold or expect to gain four nationally recognized qualifications (including English, Maths, Technological Studies, Science and 1 other relative subject) at GCSE Level/Scottish Standard Grade or equivalent. You will be capable of using your initiative and following detailed instructions against strict deadlines. You will be a team player with a very flexible approach and willingness to learn and progress. A full UK driving licence would be preferable but not essential, however you will be required to obtain a driving licence. Due to the hazardous nature of working with electricity, emphasis is placed on Health and Safety at all stages of the training and a colour vision assessment will be required.
