Reporting to a member of the station senior leadership team (Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, or similar position), provides support to all plant departments in station reliability performance, monitoring unit results, schedule adherence, and procedure development. Coordinates efforts between all Mirant facilities to ensure consistency of programs through participation on the Mirant Reliability Council, including work process improvement programs. Chairs Measurement and Analysis (M&A), Chalk Point Reliability Improvement Team (CRIT) and Strategic Asset Management (SAM) team meetings, and coordinates completion of failure Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations with the Engineering Department and/or System Owners.
Responsibilities: - 1. Oversees Reliability Improvement Program in coordination with the appropriate System Owner or Plant Engineer by reviewing recurring equipment failures, reviewing incident/accident reports, conducting root cause analysis, etc. The Reliability & Procedures Analyst (RPA) has the authority to assign RCA (or other) investigations to employees of other departments and to hold assigned participants accountable for timely completion with high quality results, with the full support of the station senior leadership team.
- 2. Conducts M&A, CRIT and SAM team meetings; monitors engineering, maintenance and operational recommendations to ensure expected outcomes
- 3. Manages the Incident Report logging process
- 4. Performs job site inspections, monitors repairs and operations processes for quality assurance and procedural compliance verification
- 5. Oversees all station procedures (including those applicable to station operations that are developed by others, such as Environmental and Safety), maintains the Procedures Database, edits, writes and reviews procedures, and ensures that all procedures have been properly reviewed and approved by the applicable station departments prior to issuance, including a technical feasibility review by Engineering and/or the appropriate System Owner
- 6. Oversees Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Practices, tracks equipment operating hours and number of starts, updates and schedules preventive and predictive maintenance, maintains historical data
- 7. Provides assistance in coordination of Condition Monitoring Programs and provides analysis of results to the responsible System Owners or plant Engineers
- 8. Assists plant engineers and System Owners with unit/equipment testing, including development of test plans and procedures, and documentation of testing results
- 9. Assists Plant Operations Coordinator with Preventive Maintenance scheduling and other issues affecting plant operations
- 10. Assists with data analysis to determine proper repair or operations methods/ improvements; interfaces with the Plant Information (PI) system trending of equipment performance
- 11. Assists in identification of quality standards for station material by verifying quality control procedures/specifications exist and are followed on equipment refurbishment, monitors lubricant specification adherence, etc.
- 12. Champions the Mirant Streamlined Reliability-Centered Maintenance (SRCM) initiative
- 13. Serves as station first point of contact for business information tools (Maximo, TOGA, etc.)
- 14. Provides weekly (or more frequent) feedback summarizing station performance relative to reliability improvement objectives as measured through Mirant Fleetwide standard Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including analysis of deficiencies and support to customer departments in order to close any identified gaps.
- 15. Performs reliability analysis of plant capital projects and additions. Ensures predictive and preventive maintenance, and routine performance testing procedures are in place and regularly scheduled through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS, for example, Maximo) prior to turnover of new systems or equipment to the plant.
- 16. Performs reliability analysis of proposed plant modifications, including changes in materials, lubrication, operating modes, maintenance intervals and system/equipment modifications
Qualifications: - At least two (2) years experience in developing, analyzing, updating and monitoring power plant procedures
- Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS-such as Maximo); Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Accident / Incident /Non-Conformance Report (NCR) Databases; PI, RCA tools (such as TapRooT®), TOGA, Business Objects, Foxboro, etc.
- Experience in technical writing; technical background in any of the following: Chemistry, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, twist, kneel, crawl, pull/push and lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk and squat for extended periods of time
- Ability to interpret and apply instructions, specifications, blueprints and procedures
- Possess a valid jurisdictional driver's license
- Excellent communication skills in the English language (verbal and written) and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
- Ability to access all locations identified for inspection activities
- Ability to develop electrical standards
- Ability to wear a respirator and other job related personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to meet (on an annual basis) appropriate physical evaluations identified by Health and Safety as prerequisites to performing certain task and training activities; possess good hearing and vision
- Ability to coordinate between all Mirant facilities to ensure consistency in programs
Preferred: - Associates or Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent power plant experience
