This is a hierarchical position for the Transmission Energy Accountant or Sr. Transmission Energy Accountant level. The successful candidate will be placed at the appropriate level commensurate with skills and qualifications. Summary Perform transmission system energy accounting and related analysis for assigned transmission region. Check out monthly transmission accounting and create invoices & payment request. Customer point-of-contact for transmission energy scheduled and metered, and after the fact accuracy of data. Provide accurate accounting as the Meter Agent for regional ISO/RTO/TSO or Tariff Administrator and other entities as required. Calculate and report the daily Control area and native load, internal and external transaction reporting, checking the accuracy of tie line numbers, and gathering information needed for FERC form 1 reporting. Essential Responsibilities
- Reconciliation of Energy Accounting data provided by the Energy Management System (EMS). Verify all received and delivered metered data for each of the tie-lines in the Control Area. Verifies data with regional ISO/RTO/TSO or Tariff Administrator and other control areas daily. Analyze and reconcile energy and interchange transaction schedules with other Control Areas and regional ISO/RTO/TSO or Tariff Administrator on a daily and monthly basis to assure compliance with reporting requirements. Develop and provide transmission analysis information necessary to support a wide variety of miscellaneous regulatory filings. Evaluate and perform accounting functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely month-end close. Assist XEMKT in resolving generator KWH metering issues using knowledge of real time data gathering equipment and processes.
- Provide historical transaction information and generate reports based on requests from internal and external customers. Responsible for documenting and monitoring compliance with internal controls required for timely and accurate energy accounting reports.
- Implement new reporting requirements in energy accounting systems, processes, etc. Provide information for and assist in the development of control area analyses. Provide energy accounting expertise to staff and others as necessary. Identify and analyze customers' needs, create and deliver solutions and maintain good relationships with transmission system customers. Resolve discrepancies using TABS / LABS, EMS, ITS, OATI, SPP and control area personnel. Resolve energy and transmission accounting questions using knowledge of accounting principles, FERC, NERC, and Regional standards.
- Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly reporting of transaction summaries and quarterly and annual FERC reporting. Provide variance analysis for operating results to business area management and/or corporate accounting. Maintain effective communication between all internal and external customers. Evaluate and reconcile counterparty reports for accuracy.
- Reconcile interchange transactions and meter data to TABS. Work with internal staff to assist in the development, enhancement and maintenance of various information systems to meet regulatory requirements. External Reporting - ensure that the external reports are accurate and timely. This includes, but is not limited to, FERC Form 1, FERC 714, NERC and SPP.
- Transmission energy accounting liaison with internal auditors. Other duties as assigned.
Required
High school diploma or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration (6 years related experience may substitute for the degree) 2 years accounting experience Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Proven analytical, written and verbal communication skills Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
