Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:   With frequent supervision, utilizes fundamental communications knowledge to provide general support and guidance in all areas of communications for assigned business units/operating companies. Balance internal, external and strategic interests to meet the objectives of the company and the business units/operating companies. Communicates, administers, and implements communications related programs, policies, and procedures.   Exhibits basic-level proficiency in the broad range of Communications activities.
*This role will be responsible for 25% administrative work and 75% communications work.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES AND DUTIES:   
1. Participates and assists in the administration of moderately complex communications assignments.

2. Provide a range of communications support (media relations, community relations, internal communications, public relations, etc.) to assigned business units/operating companies.

3. Provides support to corporate branding and advertising effort through familiarity and support of corporate identity standards in printed and electronic communications and counsel to Line of Business and enterprise clients.

4. Supports special events, open houses, promotional display programs and other services for marketing and customer communications purposes.

5. Core competencies specifically applying to this position specifically are 1) exceptional written/verbal communication skills, 2) a customer focus (strong awareness of customer habits, needs, questions), 3) creativity/continuous improvement (for readability, accessibility, cost-effectiveness and usefulness of customer communications), 4) teamwork/collaboration (for ability to collaborate with wide variety of internal clients and external marketing communications vendors), and 5) understanding the business and competition (for tracking and understanding the progress of deregulation throughout the service territory, and targeting communication for optimal impact on customers, while weighing external codes of conduct and internal business strategies).

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   Bachelors degree in journalism, business, marketing, advertising, communications, public relations or equivalent in education and/or experience. Demonstrated oral and written communications skills.   Two (2) years experience preferred in a corporate/agency/nonprofit setting.   

* Note:   Two (2) years experience would not be required for this position. A recent college graduate would be acceptable.
