Responsible for providing assistance with the security and service continuity of the distribution system; arranging and approving distribution switching operations to effectively maintain or restore customer service; and dispatching, directing, monitoring and maintaining in-service status of the distribution system with the Region, including assisting with dispatching and directing employees to effective rapid restoration of service to customers. Critical decisions must be made affecting reliability and priority of service restoration to customers. Must work under pressure during periods of critical system conditions and deal with diverse situations simultaneously. Must be able to analyze information and communicate instructions clearly and precisely. Ability to prepare and dispatch switching orders for station and sub-transmission switching. Work Hours/Travel Requirements: This position involves daytime, afternoon, overnight and weekend shifts on a rotating basis. An average of 40 hours per week but actual hours will vary. Planned, holdover and call-out overtime are expected relatively frequently. A high acceptance rate for overtime is required. Ability to respond and report to the office within a relatively short period of time is required. Occasional travel is required. Minimum Requirements Job title and salary will be commensurate to your related education and experience. Minimum requirements for the position are: - Associate's degree in electrical or electronics technology or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Must possess basic computer literacy, knowledge and skills.
- Must possess the ability to analyze information and communicate instructions clearly and precisely.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify line colors.
- Effectively operates radio and telephone systems.
- Must satisfactorily complete, in such time frames as established by the Company, all required training to advance to the next higher classification or vacate the current classification.
- Successful completion of the System Operator/Power Dispatching Selection System (SOPD) and Support and Administrative (SASS) Data Entry Module only tests are required for this position. To be considered for an advanced position, the following requirements must also be met: Distribution Dispatcher IV: - Successfully complete training and pass the examination for Dispatcher IV.
- Minimum 1 year experience as Dispatcher V or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the Outage Management System.
- Observe/assist under supervision minor radial distribution switching orders.
- Basic understanding of utility electrical facilities and the safe operation of the system.
Distribution Dispatcher III: - Successfully complete training and pass the examination for Dispatcher III.
- Minimum 1 year experience as Dispatcher IV or equivalent relevant experience.
- Monitor distribution SCADA.
- Capable of managing distribution outage restoration activities.
- Demonstrates distribution radial switching outside the substation.
- Upon supervisory approval: operate feeder circuit breakers via SCADA; perform distribution feeder tie switching; perform feeder breaker switching.
- Further advancement based on business need.
Distribution Dispatcher II: - Successfully complete training and pass the examination for Dispatcher II.
- Minimum 1 year experience as Dispatcher III or equivalent relevant experience.
- Assist in station/sub-transmission emergency operating procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of sub-transmission and station electrical facilities and operational facilities.
- Implementation of normal and emergency operational procedures.
Upon supervisory approval: observe/assist in minor sub-transmission and station switching orders. - Further advancement based on business need.
