Job Description

The successful candidate will be placed in this job family based on their qualifications.

Summary

Corporate agent and communication link between Xcel management and IBEW for purposes of administration, interpretation & negotiation of labor agreements. Assist in the implementation of labor relations goals & objectives. Assist in the resolution of grievances, arbitrations, disciplinary actions and departmental reorganizations. Provides consulting services to managers and employees to resolve workplace organizational issues and manage litigation risks.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide management with guidance, advice and support regarding the administration, interpretation and negotiation of the IBEW labor agreements, letters of understandings as they apply to bargaining unit employees.
  • Assist with communication between Business Unit and the IBEW during negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, grievances and conflict resolution pertaining to issues having significant impact on the corporation.
  • Provide leadership and consultation for managers, and employees to identify and/or resolve employee and organizational issues. Corporate responsibility for workforce conflict resolution, positive discipline and peer group resolution program.
  • Assist in presenting workforce relations courses as part of management development programs.
  • Provide expert testimony and research services on company policies, procedures, harassment and discrimination laws and past practice on disciplinary actions and terminations for arbitrations peer group resolution panels and court cases.
  • Provide consultation to human resources directors and employees pertaining to workforce relations policies, programs and issues.
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in the workforce relations field
  • Knowledge of state, federal and local employment laws
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills

Required for Sr. Workforce Relations Consultant

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management, Business Administration (6 years of experience may substitute for the degree)
  • 5 years of experience in workforce relations field
  • Knowledge of state, federal & local employment laws
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management, Business Administration
