Job Description

Summary

Provide overall direction in the development, implementation and evaluation of economic development initiatives and programs within Xcel Energy's NSPW jurisdiction, including business retention, expansion and attraction programs; management of Xcel Energy Industrial/Business Park investment portfolio; and meeting annual natural gas and electric revenue goals. Represent Xcel Energy on select boards or advisory committees of local, regional and state community and/or economic development organizations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in delivering Xcel Energy economic development programs and services to customer communities and to existing and prospective commercial, industrial, and other energy-intensive customers in order to achieve annual and long-term department goals
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with local, regional, and state economic development organizations and public agencies, working with cross-functional teams as appropriate. Serve as the Xcel Energy corporate representative on boards or committees of key community, regional or state economic development organizations
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with community and business leaders in assigned communities and counties. Serve as the Xcel Energy corporate representative on boards or committees in those designated communities, working with cross-functional teams as appropriate
  • Manage company financial support for key local, regional and state community and economic development organizations and/or initiatives
  • Provide overall management of department which includes budget development and management; marketing and communications, strategic planning; industrial park portfolio management

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Urban Planning, Economics or related field
  • 5 years of economic development and/or business planning experience
  • Project management experience
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Economic Development certification
  • Customer service and direct customer contact in a sales or marketing environment
