For our Packaging & Reliability group within the Automation Devices department, we are looking for an Experimental Physicist / Electrical Engineer PhD (m/f). Your tasks: lead the technology development in the field of packaging of power electronic modules for very high current, voltage, and temperature requirements • perform applied research in the field of reliability assessment of power electronic modules and systems • investigate packaging aspects of heat dissipation, high voltage insulation, electrical power distribution and encapsulation • perform theoretical and experimental reliability analyses, perform modeling and simulation of failure mechanisms, and develop meaningful accelerated aging methods • create intellectual property • collaborate with ABB business units, other ABB research centers, and with universities The requirements: PhD or comparable qualification/experience in experimental physics, electrical engineering, or a related field • strong experimental background • expertise in semiconductor packaging and/or reliability engineering • background in power electronic devices and systems advantageous • fluency in English and willingness to learn German • creativity and initiative • team player with good communication skills.
