Distribution Standards Engineer I - Sr #6385 Job In Columbus Ohio

*Note: Education and relevant experience will be used to determine salary grade and salary.

This position has the following key roles and responsibilities:

*Works with Operating Company Distribution Standards Committee members, Supply Chain, Dolan Lab, Distribution Line Training, Safety, Meter and other resource personnel to develop, maintain and improve construction and maintenance standards, specifications and approved materials and equipment lists for overhead and underground distribution line construction used by the AEP Operating Companies.

*Reviews and approves materials and equipment for use on the AEP Distribution System.   

*Serves as knowledge expert on the proper application of distribution materials and equipment.   

*Monitors performance; initiates tests, establishes pilot installations and performs analyses; and conducts research relative to the distribution line materials and equipment and their applications.

*Serves as AEP representative in industry collaborative, standards and code making organizations to establish and maintain industry procedures, policies, standards and codes related to distribution line materials and equipment.

*Partners with Supply Chain personnel to manage supplier relationships to maximize the value to AEP and to identify, develop and evaluate distribution line material and equipment purchase alternatives to achieve the best performance and value to AEP considering safety and optimal lifecycle costs.
  
*Works with vendors to assure distribution line material and equipment product quality and performance; provides or arranges for training to help insure proper product application and evaluates new technologies, materials and equipment for appropriate application on the AEP Distribution System.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related field of study)from an ABET accredited university or college with 4 years related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of Distribution Engineering expertise.   Professional Engineer license a plus and is required for the Sr Engineer position (SG 22).

Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred. PE license a plus.

Travel Requirement: up to a maximum of 15 % (4-5 days per month) in U.S. and/or International.
