Summary This position is responsible for direct and indirect reports with primary functions for conducting assessments and inspections facilitating the identification of performance issues, and for communicating results to appropriate stakeholders. The Supervisor will have responsibility for implementing established Fleet Procedures in areas related to assessment and inspection. Essential Responsibilities
- Coaching to ensure right attitudes and behaviors for value-added assessment and inspection results. Evaluating work schedules and coordinating resources to monitor critical activities in operations, maintenance and radiological protection. Monitor assessor/inspector performance to verify that attitudes and behaviors are aligned with high quality results. Provide feedback on assessor/inspector performance.
- Maintain awareness of plant status and upcoming major activities. Communicate emerging issues to appropriate supervision. Attend plant readiness meetings to evaluate for upcoming work and adjust accessor/inspector priorities based on emerging or unexpected conditions.
- Resourcing, scheduling and managing assessment and inspection resources at the assigned site. Communicate assessment results to site managers. Monitor inspection results through reports and communicate potential site/fleet issues to peer management. Provide oversight of assessor/inspector peer teams to ensure cross-functional issues are identified and action initiated for fleet operating experience.
- Department Performance. Responsible for cost control, action-tracking management, self-assessment, AERs, KPIs and performance monitoring, as well as human performance plans and performance awards.
- Self-improve through participation in benchmarking activities, training courses and seminars. Schedule and participate in benchmarking activities both within and external to Xcel Energy to ensure excellence in nuclear operations procedures, work flow, technology and infrastructure. Advance improvement initiatives though participation in peer work groups. Participate in evaluation teams which have been organized to identify process, human performance and/or organizational effectiveness issues. Identify key learning activities to improve performance.
Required Two years of formal post-high school specialized trade school, technical school or college in combination with 10 or more years of technical work experience. Minimum requirements also include demonstrated strong interpersonal and leadership skills with effective verbal and written communication skills, and proven ability to drive and accept change an continuously review and improve processes. Preferred skills include demonstrated strong planning, scheduling and organization skills in order to handle multiple assignments simultaneously: decision making and problem solving skills. Engineering or nuclear operations background is preferred. Understanding of a Nuclear Quality Assurance Program and its implementation is also required. Knowledge and experience in areas of quality management and application of quality concepts such as: understanding work systems, process performance, performance measures, data collection, information analysis, strategic planning, managing human resources, application of quality assurance systems and standards, and continuous improvement concepts is a plus.
