PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
  • Work with team members on site, at AREVA Solar HQ and with outside vendors to build and modify manufacturing equipment.
  • Hands on work maintaining, improving, installing or replacing equipment as needed.
  • Identify sources of equipment malfunction and the steps necessary to address the problem.
  • Maintain detailed record keeping and provide clear reporting of results.
  • Interface with R&D and Engineering during the NPI process to test and scale up new products.
  • Execute tasks independently.
  • Drive an integrated least cost, best practice strategy.
  • Provide manufacturing inputs to quality assurance.
  • Provide technical support for specific plant operations.
  • Participate in training of employees.
  • Support OSHA, QA & other AREVA Solar in house programs.
Typical Projects May Include:
  • The Coatings team delivers innovative solutions to enhance the performance or reduce the cost of a solar boiler. The team works across R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing departments to bring next generation products from concept to production. The Coatings team is pioneering new capabilities never before perfected anywhere in the world.
  • AREVA Solar, a part of AREVA Renewable, Inc., has a very large, international market and unique technology and service offerings. AREVA Solar exists to deliver turnkey CSP and CPV projects using technology solutions which AREVA controls. CSP and CPV projects each in excess of $100M are already advanced as a result of internal AREVA Solar business development and existing partnerships and planned acquisitions.
  • Though AREVA has extensive resources around the world that are accessible to Solar, our solar-focused project management approach is nascent. The successful candidate will participate in establishing an appropriate approach and then implementing it as early as 2Q 2010.
TRAVEL:
Moderate; up to 25% domestic travel required.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
Matrixed reporting to the Manufacturing Director and Coatings Program Manager, the Coatings Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, R&D and third-party contractors to facilitate the successful delivery of a wide range of systems and components, some utilizing world-leading high-technology processes and materials.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this Technical Specialist opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in a fast paced, challenging manufacturing environment, with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Has a "hands-on" approach: proven experience that shows candidate is willing to jump in to perform detailed tasks.
  • High levels of analytical ability dealing with unique problem sets.
  • Strong oral & written English language communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of a range of software programs. (SolidWorks, MS Office)
  • Good interpersonal skills. Able to relate to & communicate with all levels.
  • Travel up to 25%%3C/SPAN>
