Company Description
AREVA NP is dedicated to the design and construction of nuclear power plants and research reactors, instrumentation and control, modernization and maintenance services, components manufacture and the supply of nuclear fuel.
FDWT-AR (Thermal Hydraulics, Richland) provides analytical methods and computer codes used in the design and safety analyses required for the safe and economical use of AREVA NP fuel. FDWT-AR is responsible for the methods and computer codes used to perform thermal hydraulic design analyses for the reactor core (pressure drop, flow distribution, and thermal margin) and to perform reactor system analyses of anticipated transients and postulated accidents to demonstrate that safety and licensing requirements are satisfied. FDWT-AR provides technical consulting with respect to advanced fuel design development and solutions for emerging industry problems.
FDWT-AR activities involve many aspects of reactor performance that include a wide range of physical phenomena and reactor performance characteristics. These activities provide opportunities to be involved in many different aspects of reactor analysis including thermal hydraulics, fuel rod modeling, pre- and post-dryout heat transfer, transient neutron kinetics, two-phase flow, reactor protection system characteristics, emergency core cooling systems, pump performance characteristics, and plant control system functions. The activities involve both steady state and transient performance of the reactor core and plant systems.
With manufacturing facilities in 43 countries and a sales network in more than 100, AREVA offers customers reliable technological solutions for CO2-free power generation and electricity transmission and distribution. We are the world leader in nuclear power and the only company to cover all industrial activities in this field.

Our 71,000 employees are committed to continuous improvement on a daily basis, making sustainable development the focal point of the group's industrial strategy.

AREVA's businesses help meet the 21st century's greatest challenges: making energy available to all, protecting the planet, and acting responsibly towards future generations.
