Combustion Turbine Technician - Dickerson Station Job In Dickerson Maryland

• Operates the Combustion Turbines, performs less involved maintenance tasks and assists higher classified employees in the maintenance of the Combustion Turbines and associated balance of plant equipment and systems.

This position requires new candidates to take the POSS/MASS pre-employment test. Our tests are administered in Landover, MD. If you wish to be considered for this position, you will be required to attend the testing session in Landover, MD. Please take this into consideration when you apply.

• Must complete Combustion Turbine Tech Qualification Course, which consists of:

                  Gas Turbine Operations and Maintenance

                  HRSG

                  Balance of Plant equipment O&M

                  Water Treatment - Chemical Treatment including:  analysis, testing and water chemistry.

                  Complete plant safety program

                  Understand all relevant plant permits (i.e.) air, water, NSPS, etc.

                  Complete environmental orientation

                  Complete all required OSHA training

• Maintain high professional, personnel and equipment safety and environmental consciousness and compliance standards and practices.
• Perform other assigned independent, team, or shift tasks such as system expert, industrial safety program activities, routine maintenance tasks, housekeeping and general facility preservation, etc.
• Assist in developing and defining operational policies and procedures.
• Assist in identifying and implementing profit improvement projects.
• Respond quickly to plant conditions or requirements, which may involve extended and/or abnormal work hours.
• Perform assigned maintenance activities in the areas of mechanical, electrical, I&C
• Will involve work with OSHA classified hazardous materials.

• High school diploma / GED
• Minimum of 5 years experience with Combustion Turbines technology preferred. Experience with steam, electric power plant operations or process petrochemical operations and maintenance will be considered
• Knowledge of power plant equipment and operations including theory
• Additional background skills in a maintenance or technical discipline such as, mechanic, welding, water chemistry, electrician, instrument and control, gas turbines, environmental, waste systems management, experience in heavy industry is required.
• Familiar with G.E. Control Systems, DCS and Allen Bradley PLC diagnostic and troubleshooting.
• Understand preventive and predictive maintenance technology.
• Must qualify for the use of respirator sealing.
• Ability to work extended hours or Shift Work when required.
• Experience or ability to become versatile in the use of personal computers and numerous software applications.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with external and internal entities.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
• New candidates must take POSS/MASS aptitude test.
