Position Summary This position performs general chemistry and chemical engineering assignments in a laboratory and power plant environment that contribute to the achievement of department and corporate goals. Primary Responsibilities 1. Manage the Laboratory’s Quality Control program to assure compliance with national accreditation, internal standards, and government regulations. 2. Provide day to day operational supervision of one or more of the technical sections of the Laboratory. 3. Develop and implement new analytical test procedures. 4. Perform chemistry related and environmental studies at PPL’s power generation facilities, substations, and other facilities. 5. Provide technical support to internal customers on chemistry related problems and issues. Basic Qualifications 1. Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering or a related technical field with a minimum of 16 college hour credits in chemistry is required. 2. High level of PC skills required, including MS Office. 3. Strong written and verbal communications required. 4. Ability to work out of doors and in a power plant environment with potential overnight travel is required. 5. Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license required. Preferred Qualifications 1. Training in analytical chemistry and/or laboratory experience is highly desirable. 2. Experience with team building or direct supervision of bargaining unit employees is desirable. 3. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and basic data management and computer skills. 4. Proficiency in technical writing. 5. Knowledge of environmental and laboratory laws, regulations, codes and/or standards.
