Position Summary The Chemistry Support Supervisor is responsible for the development and direction of all chemistry programs in the functional areas of laboratory QA/QC, radiochemistry, cold chemistry, radiological effluent, radiological environmental, and chemistry data management to ensure they are developed, maintained and implemented in accordance with federal regulations and programs. Primary Responsibilities 1. Supervise the Chemistry Support Group which implements the Chemistry/Radiochemisty/Radiological Effluent(RETS) and Radiological Environmental Programs(REMP). 2. Responsible for the Chemistry Procedure Program and the ODCM. Responsible for the Chemistry Radiochemistry Program. 3. Responsible to provide technical expertise and support to these programs and ensure they are developed, maintained and implemented in accordance with federal standards. 4. Participate in the Emergency Plan 5. Resolve plant problems and institute changes based on investigations 6.Administer outside contracts and perform technical evaluations of bids 7.Interface with other groups both within and outside the company to solve plant problems, and provide an exchange of ideas and expertise with respect to the plant's many different yet interrelated systems. 8.Represent the SSES Chemistry Group on Industry Committees such as the EPRI BWR Chemistry Guidelines Committee. Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration. Basic Qualifications 1. B.S degree with a major in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering or related engineering or physical science. 2. Required to meet the qualifications of ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978(4.4.3) 3. Minimum of 10 years experience in Chemistry/Radiochemistry at a nuclear power plant required. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of NRC, EPA and DEP regulations required. 5. Professional experience in plant operation RETS/REMP Preferred Qualifications An excellent knowledge of Chemistry/Radiochemistry and nuclear plant operations is required. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and basic data management and computer skills Knowledge of radiological, environmental and laboratory laws, regulations, codes and/or standards. Good oral and written communication skills, including ability to conduct presentations to small or large technical and non-technical audiences. Proficiency in technical writing. Ability to effectively represent PPL while interfacing with outside companies and regulatory agencies. Good leadership skills are needed to ensure smooth operation of the chemistry support function that includes many and widely diverse programs. Ability to motivate people. Desire and ability to set and enforce high standards. The vision of continuous improvement. Ability to work within a fixed budget. Preferred Qualifications Possible progression to Chemistry Manager position in one or two years.
