LOOKING FOR AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY?
ENJOY A NEW EXCITING CAREER IN A GROWING INDUSTRY!
AREVA is seeking a Fuel Reliability Engineer. Fuel Reliability Engineering is a multi-disciplinary role that interfaces significantly with Project Managers, Fuel Field Services, Design Engineering, Neutronics, Thermal-Hydraulics, Chemistry, Manufacturing, and customers. Engineers typically work with a high degree of independence on multiple concurrent problems of varying durations. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Planning and directing irradiated nuclear fuel inspection activities and analyzing results to diagnose fuel failures and fuel-related operational problems.
  • Lead or support causal analysis, and support Design Engineering or Manufacturing to develop and implement solutions and improvements to fuel products and processes.
  • Post-Irradiated Examinations (PIE) of non-failed fuel to quantify design-related data or to establish margins to failure.

TYPICAL PROJECTS YOUR GROUP MAY WORK ON:

  • Planning, directing, and analysis of results from failed fuel inspections and Post-Irradiation Examinations (PIE) of non-failed fuel, as well as hot cell work when necessary.
  • Lead or support Root Cause investigations related to the performance of the fuel products.
  • Influencing product strategy via feedback of operating experience and risk assessments/FMEAs.
  • Industry projects with organizations like EPRI and PWR Owners Group.
  • Presentations - both internal and external regarding the performance of fuel and the ZTF program.
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
AREVA NP is dedicated to the design and construction of nuclear power plants and research reactors, instrumentation and control, modernization and maintenance services, components manufacture and the supply of nuclear fuel.
AREVA supplies nuclear fuel and associated engineering services for BWRs and PWRs globally. The Fuel Reliability Group supports the failure-free operation of nuclear fuel assemblies used in these markets.
Fuel Reliability is part of the Fuel Business Unit within the AREVA Front End Business Group. The team is chartered with supporting AREVA's Zero Tolerance for Failure initiative and the industry goal of Zero Fuel Failures. The group size consists of 5-6 highly independent engineers that perform inspections and causal analysis of failed fuel. The Fuel Reliability team also leads the global Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) program for measurements of design-related data on non-failed fuel. The PIE program is essential for regulatory compliance, for maintaining and improving fuel designs, and for quantifying and managing margins to failure.
With manufacturing facilities in 43 countries and a sales network in more than 100, AREVA offers customers reliable technological solutions for CO2-free power generation and electricity transmission and distribution. We are the world leader in nuclear power and the only company to cover all industrial activities in this field.
