This role is part of Group Function Group R&D (GF-RD) at ABB’s global headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. You will be responsible for raising understanding of the company and its objectives by researching, writing and editing texts for ABB Review (ABB’s corporate technical journal), a publication that is distributed to ABB’s customers and other interested parties across the world and raises ABB’s profile by showcasing the company’s technologies, presenting R&D successes and introducing new and future technologies. . Your tasks: Write and edit articles for publication in the journal. Mostly you will work from manuscripts submitted by authors (who are experts in their fields) and you will convert these into quality articles for a technical audience. This will involve communicating with authors and creating articles in an iterative process. Some articles may also be written from scratch and this requires fact-finding activities such as interviews with experts and studying technical literature. The job furthermore involves the finalization of these articles and working together with a graphic design agency and with the printer up to final approval and production. To a lesser extent, the job also involves some editing and maintenance of the R&D web pages.. The requirements: A technical background (preferably in Electrical engineering or a related field), a passion for technology and a flair for writing about it in an interesting yet accurate manner and put developments into context. A knack for dealing with authors and other stakeholders. A critical eye and the ability to see an article from the reader’s perspective. Ability to work flexibly and under stress and meet challenging deadlines. Ability to work with common computer applications (Word etc). Must be English native speaker or have a strong command of English. Working knowledge of German of advantage. Knowledge of further languages also of advantage.
