Job Description
  Overview:

THIS IS A UNION POSITION!

• This is a key position for the company and will present growth opportunities to the right person both economically and professionally.
• Leverage your calibration, troubleshooting, and instrumentation repair experience.
• Utilize modern predictive technologies to contribute to our comprehensive maintenance program.
• No 2 workdays are the same.
• Just enough local travel to keep it interesting.
• Ongoing valuable predictive maintenance/condition monitoring training.

 

Intermediate-Senior level position to be filled at Level 2 or Level 3 per CBA.



Responsibilities:

• Utilizes all available predictive maintenance technologies including, but not limited to, vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, and ultrasound to determine machinery condition
• Maintains accurate records of machinery conditions and related history
• Maintains, calibrates, and repairs all condition monitoring instrumentation
• Utilizes the following types of equipment: Hand tools, including hand power tools, Digital Multi-meters, Calibration / Test equipment, Vibration data collectors/analyzers, Spectrum analyzers and Digital Vector Filters
• Performs slow speed balancing on machine rotors and in-place dynamic balancing of fans, motors, etc.
• Installs, calibrates, and operates monitoring instrumentation such as transducers (vibration, temperature, pressure, flow, etc.), transmitters, and recording devices
• Applies knowledge of plant system functions including maintenance work practices and divisional safe work practices
• Performs emergency response activities as required
• Operates company vehicles and equipment
• Performs administrative functions in support of work unit such as timekeeping, materials support, cost monitoring, and scheduling and quality control/quality assurance
• Performs general housekeeping functions, as necessary
• Trains lesser qualified technicians



Qualifications:

Required:
• Must have experience calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation
• Good oral and written communication skills required
• Must have basic computer skills
Preferred:
• Prefer experience with machine vibration monitoring, single plane balancing of rotating machines, and/or infrared thermography

Job Requirements - Education/Training:

Required:
• Associates Degree in a technical field or equivalent degree and 3-5 years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Preferred:

Job Requirements - Certification(s):

Required:
• Willingness and ability to complete the Level I Vibration Specialist Certification within one year

Preferred: Level I Thermographer Certification in addition to above

Job Requirements - Knowledge and/or Specific Skills Necessary to do the Job:
• Work rotating shift work, holiday and weekend work in addition to overtime
• Read, write and speak English
• Use and maintain tools and equipment
• Interpret and apply instructions, specification, blueprints, and procedures
• Possess valid jurisdictional drivers permit
• Ability to perform both indoor and outdoor tasks requiring continuous physical activity, sometimes of a strenuous and stressful nature
• Ability to work in enclosed vessels or confined spaces
• Possess the appropriate body coordination to do the following for extended periods of time: climb ladders, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, lift up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, and squatting
• Work on or around energized electrical equipment
• Work at elevated heights including scaffolding
• Ability to work alone in remote areas
• Ability to work in dark areas or areas with limited lighting
• Work in ambient temperatures ranging from very cold to very hot
• Work in areas that may be noisy and dirty
• Possess good hearing and vision
• Ability to wear a respirator and other job related PPE (personal protective equipment)
• Ability to meet on an annual basis, appropriate physical evaluations identified by Health and Safety as prerequisite requirements to performing certain tasks and training activities
