Perform maintenance/repairs on sedans, light/medium/heavy trucks, trailers and heavy work equipment and any attached equipment, and/or auxiliary equipment, which is part of the specialized vehicles, operated by the Company. The following list sets forth the principal duties required for the job. This list is not intended to limit assignment of work or the degree of supervision under all operating conditions. Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below. Follow all AEP and fleet Safety rules, also effectively communicate with peers, supervision and internal customers.
Perform maintenance on cars, light duty trucks, medium duty trucks and other Company equipment. Also install air, oil and fuel filter elements during preventative maintenance.
Maintain change, repair, rotate, remove, balance, install tires and wheels as well as tire chains.
Perform visual inspection while servicing equipment looking for abnormal conditions in operation of equipment and report any unsafe, irregularities and abnormal conditions to the proper supervision.
Perform electrical system component testing to include alternators, starters batteries, battery cables, light bulbs, and simple electrical circuits.
Service vehicle cooling system and related components. Be able to perform ph balance test and record data in maintenance tracking software.
Service, repair or replace struts, shock absorbers, wiper motor, belts, seals, exhaust system and u joints/ drive shaft components.
Perform minor repairs to vehicle chassis, body and mounted equipment such as mirrors,
Perform repairs to include inspection, removal, installation of latches, doors, windows, trim and handles.
Perform inspections or service on brake systems that include repair or replacement of components.
Operate automotive test equipment for example, digital volt ohm meters, diagnostic scan tools, hydraulic pressure and flow meters.
Follow driving instruction for transporting vehicles, equipment, parts and tools as required.
May perform the duties of the first 6 months of the Fleet Technician B classification, when working under the direct supervision of an employee of higher classification.
Perform all tasks as outlined in company training programs and acquire a passing score
Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules, regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices.
Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Maintain records and submit reports as required.
Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees.
Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
Direct the work of employees assigned to assist. Minimum Requirements High school graduate or equivalent education and/or experience.
Must qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as
determined by the Company.
Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression, or vacate the current job classification.
Must demonstrate the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of Fleet Technician B.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Employee shall obtain appropriate
licensing as required by federal and/or state law prior to the end of the designated
probationary period.
Must exhibit competency and aptitude in the fundamentals and mechanics of vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Must become familiar with and have the ability to operate the computer systems utilized by the Fleet Services organization.
Must be physically able to perform the duties required of this position.
Must comply with Company rules and regulations governing safety and other matters.
