Working at the forefront of technical development and assuring its protection are the challenging tasks of a Industrial Patent Attorney. In the varied position as Patent Engineer (with additional education to qualify as Patent Attorney), you will have the optimal opportunity to benefit from your technical proficiency as well as your communication skills.

Your tasks: hold conversations with researchers and inventors • compile patentability opinions based on patent research reports • process official actions of the patent offices EPO and DPMA • support correspondence patent attorneys worldwide with the processing of official actions • execute prior-art patent searches in online databases • assume administrative tasks in the context of patent applications • support experienced Patent Attorneys in opposition and patent infringement proceedings • consult ABB companies with regard to intellectual property matters

The requirements: Master degree in physics, electrical, mechanical, or process engineering • Master in Intellectual Property and/ or practical knowledge in international patent law an asset • willingness to qualify as Representative beforethe European Patent Office (European Patent Attorney) • business fluency in English and German (one as mother tongue) • analytical and independent work style • determination • abstracting skills • advisory skills • motivation to acquire new skills • experience in methodic and scientific research
