POSITION PURPOSE: Serves as the program manager in one of the two following nuclear maintenance functions: (1) Welding; (2) Self Assessment Program and Supervisor Training. Provides authoritative decisions and recommendations on behalf of NPG regarding issues related to his/her specialty/field. Is responsible for one or more programs or program components of such magnitude, diversity and scope that their technical performance is of critical importance to NPG's overall objectives. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1.As the nuclear on-site management specialist for designated maintenance function, is responsible for his/her assigned program and all related components. 2.Is an industry-recognized leader, expert and technical consultant in his/her specialty/field, sharing expertise with other plant program managers and external sources 3.Represents the interest of NPG on industry committees for his/her specialty/field. May hold the chairmanship or other high position on these committees. 4.Participates in the development of long-range planning involving his/her specialty/field. 5.Is accountable and influential for TVA's interests in industry research dollars. 6.Provides technical consultation to Nuclear, Fossil, Hydro and Transmission organizations. 7.Understands, develops and provides interpretations of regulations, policies and industry standards and provides the final decision on these matters. 8.Provides overall technical conscience, experience, industry involvement and guidance in his/her specialty/field. 9.May work as an individual contributor or as a team leader in planning, organizing and supervising the work of in an intensely specialized field. 10.May be assigned to rotate to each nuclear site to assist in outages, typically performing oversight of his/her specialty/field. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education - B.S. in a technical or engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical) or scientific discipline (e.g., physics, metallurgy); or equivalent related education, training and experience. Experience - Ten or more years of technical experience, including six to eight years of design, maintenance, modification, or construction experience in the power-generating field. Four to six years' experience performing related activities at nuclear power plants. Certification/License, etc - Professional Engineering Registration is desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Must be cognizant of NRC requirements; perform assignments with initiative and judgment of individual actions required during implementation of the radiological emergency plan. Must obtain and maintain requirements for nuclear plant unescorted plant access.
