AREVA is posting this opportunity to identify and consider viable candidates for an upcoming Shift Manager position at our various locations in North America. A projected start date is yet to be determined as it is dependent on business needs. Transnuclear, Inc., a subsidiary of Areva and premier provider of storage and transportation of spent nuclear fuel and other radioactive materials, is seeking a Shift Manager (Field Project Manager). The focus of this position will include: - Plan and direct daily activities of a group of professional, lead or support personnel who perform nuclear plant ISFSI (Dry Cask Storage) work.
- Typically the incumbent does not perform the work being supervised but provides technical guidance to subordinates in resolution of non-routine problems
- Plan, organize, monitor and control the work activities of the group in accordance with customer requirements and company policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Train, counsel, and evaluate performance of direct reports and contractors
- Supervise the group's performance to complete projects within budget and schedule
- Provide technical guidance to employees
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and safety requirements
- Provide proposal input for work activities performed by operations
- Lead deployments and operation of Transnuclear leased equipment
- Train support staff in performance of field operations
- Assist in developing technical protocols or improving existing ones
- Conduct project presentations to customer and/or Transnuclear management for Job scope and/or readiness reviews
- Maintain documentation to meet customer and/or Transnuclear obligations
Typical projects your group may work on: - Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation projects (ISFSI) at Nuclear Power Stations using Transnuclear or other vendor equipment
- Shipping contaminated materials using appropriate casks from customer sites to disposal locations
- Provide expert advice for operations/maintenance support with Transnuclear provided equipment used by our customers
- Support U.S. and international projects to move spent fuel from utilities to storage and recycling facilities
- Production of new and improved equipment for Transnuclear equipment operations
Travel - Yes, 50% of the time. Assignments can be as long as 6 months. International travel possible. Work hours are typically 40hrs/week in office and as much as 72 hrs/week on assignments. Hours will be in accordance with NRC and/or utility guidelines while on assignment.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this Shift Manager opportunity. - Min. High School Diploma and at least 5 years (candidates with more than 8 years and specific NUHOMS experience may qualify for senior position) proven leadership supervising nuclear site construction or modifications projects directly relating to work on a refueling floor/fuel building or equivalent work at one or more commercial nuclear stations.
- Must have previously held unescorted access at a commercial nuclear site in the last 5 years.
- Will be required to obtain and maintain unescorted access at commercial nuclear stations.-
- Must be physically able to efficiently use facility stairs over 60 ft on a routine basis, on occasion lift at least 50 lbs, and be comfortable working in high heat/humidity in buildings or low temperatures and weather outside, work rotating shifts up to 72 hours per week - as required based on client schedules.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position: - Have led multiple ISFSI operations campaign with any technology; have at least 10 combined years supervising or managing nuclear field operations involving refueling floor/fuel building work for ISFSI, refueling, or similar activities at a commercial nuclear station
- Have led at least one complete campaign using TN's NUHOMS equipment
- Will be or have been a master rigger.
- Knowledgable of protocols for welding at a nuclear station and at least familiar with TIG welding processes used in canister closure
- Experienced with canister vacuum drying processes
- Knowledge of fuel handling procedures and guidelines and may have personal fuel handling experience
- Performed as an instructor at a nuclear station
- Computer literate and not challenged using Microsoft Office products
