Under general supervision, perform work pertaining to disconnecting, reconnecting, removing and installing single-phase kilowatt-hour and demand meters not to exceed 260 volts, collect delinquent payments, read meters, investigate irregular readings, make broken-seal energy diversion assessments, and evaluate inactive usage, contact customers, test, inspect, maintain, service, and perform associated duties. Read meters and recorders, including operating the mobile collector to obtain RF meter readings.
Replace, remove, install, disconnect, or connect all self-contained, socket base, single-phase and network meters in the field, not to exceed 260 volts, for service orders, investigation orders, credit orders and device test orders, or as otherwise directed.
Leave collection notices on customers’ premises. Initiate and/or complete field orders through appropriate work management system.
Compile and maintain records associated with activities (installs, removals, changes, disconnects, attempted disconnects, collection amounts, miles driven); complete reconnect/disconnect authorizations; safeguard customer payments.
Assist in the investigation of energy diversion. Appear as witness in court hearings as needed.
Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Receive material from storeroom.
Pack, ship or deliver tested material and return material to be tested to the lab.
Safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet trucks.
Make voltage and load checks on single-phase and network services at customer premises.
Investigate and resolve meter access problems.
Assist with rerouting and mapping activities.
Complete investigation orders relating to abnormal use and/or customer concerns.
Become familiar with and have an appreciation of single-phase fundamentals of electricity.
Become familiar with the Company’s meter standards and with the functions of metering equipment where applicable to assigned work.
Perform duties in accordance with the Company’s meter standards, safety rules and operating regulations and practices.
Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees.
Perform similar or less skilled work.
Report hazards, irregularities, and abnormal conditions.
Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements 1. High school diploma or equivalent education.
2. Must complete Company placement exercises or other skills assessment evaluations for this classification.
3. Be familiar with a computer keyboard, computer terminology, basic electrical concepts, and be able to successfully complete a strength test to properly perform the duties and responsibilities assigned.
4. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.
5. Must have safe work habits and adhere to all safety rules of the Company.
6. Must possess ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.
7. Must be able to treat the Company's and customers' business as confidential.
8. Must meet all requirements for operating communications equipment, including the ability to enter data via mobile data computer accurately and in a timely manner.
9. Must have the ability to work aloft from structures, ladders and aerial devices.
10. Must be willing to work overtime as required by job responsibilities. Must be available by telephone or by Company-provided pager or cell phone.
11. Must meet the requirements for entry into the MRO Servicer II position within 24 months, or vacate the current job classification.
12. Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) selection test is required for this position.
