Job Description

NAES Corporation, a leading provider of 3rd party O&M services to the Independent Power Industry, is currently recruiting for an O&M Technician for the Faribault Energy Park located in Faribault, MN.

Faribault Energy Park is an innovative 240 MW combined-cycle facility in southern Minnesota utilizing GE 7FA technology.  The plant was developed as an appealing package of environmental and community benefits that make it a long-term asset to the community and an environmentally good neighbor.  Owned by the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA), the plant runs during periods of higher demand for electricity, when other sources of energy are more expensive.  The Minnesota River Station consists of a 49 MW electric generation plant and a distribution substation located in Chaska, MN. 

Job Description:

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all power plant equipment and assist with maintenance tasks as assigned. He/she will also be expected to maintain shift operating logs and records, read and record gauges and meters as well as assist with the development of standard procedures for operations and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years of power plant experience in operation and/or maintenance.
  • Ability to complete site-specific qualification program.
  • Knowledge of and experience in at least 4 of the following skills: pipefitting, welding, machining, rigging, rotating machine repair, fabrication, machine alignment, basic vibration analysis, and using electrical equipment.
  • Experience with gas turbine combined cycle operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of power plant mechanical and electrical equipment as well as safety policies and procedures, especially in the areas of high-energy systems, chemical handling, heavy equipment, rotating machinery, confined spaces, incipient fire suppression, and first aid.
  • Ability to locate, trouble-shoot, and adjust defects in mechanical equipment and/or maintain, install, modify and trouble-shoot plant electrical systems and equipment without "tripping" equipment with supervision, if necessary.
  • Cogeneration experience is highly desirable.
  • At least two years experience in a leadership role or supervising technical, supervisory and administrative personnel required.
