Job Description
NUCLEAR ENGINEER INTERN CANDIDATES

Job Summary

Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced nuclear engineer.  Applies standard nuclear engineering practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.  

This is the entry level for professional work.  Performs assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.  Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Entry - never supervises and may be assisted by aides or technicians.

Supervision Received
Supervisor screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work.  Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments.

Skills and Proficiencies (May be job or organization specific)
Thorough knowledge of nuclear engineering fundamentals.
Demonstrate the ability to achieve technical areas prescribed on performance appraisal.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY FACTORS
-Must currently be majoring in Nuclear engineering from an accredited engineering school with at least 30 hours of completed coursework.  
-Must have a 2.75 GPA.
-Must be a Fulltime student.

Local candidates may be preferred.

Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3 and S-4 medical qualifications when applicable.
