Business Unit Overview Business Services provides Exelon and its subsidiaries with financial, human resource, legal, information technology, supply management and corporate governance services. Job Description Exelon Corporation is looking for a Principal IT Architect to work in their downtown Philadelphia or Kennett Square locations at Pennsylvania (preferable) or Chicago location at Chase Tower.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Partner with IT and business teams at Exelon Generation Business Units, in particular Power Trading organization to provide the necessary leadership to drive overall solution including application strategy, architecture and other emerging data technology solutions (e.g., data mart/warehouse, business intelligence and analytics, data integration, master data management). Evaluate advantages of the existing applications and data standards / principles, market availability of products, and risks / benefits of technology solution into Exelon¿s computing environment.
Provide comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level for application and data architecture and the overall Enterprise Information System (EIS).

Lead efforts to establish high level conceptual application architecture and data model and facilitate proper governance processes.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Work with IT and business teams to establish application and data strategy and identify technology solutions to achieve business results.

Ensure appropriate implementation of technology within both the development and production environments.

For architecture: Establish application and data architecture strategy that aligns with the business strategy.

Design and develop overall application and data architecture and investigate emerging (e.g., master data management) technology solutions for Exelon Generation Business Units, in particular Power Trading organization (energy trading organization): For engineering: Perform design and engineering functions for comprehensive application and data architecture and oversee the introduction of new technologies and integration technology solutions into the operations environment by utilizing Exelon¿s standard governance process.

Provide application and data architecture and modeling technical expertise and ability to abstract details to high level principles.

Advice to IT leadership in the development of application and data strategy plans to support business strategies.

Establish, maintain and enhance relationships with business and IT partners.

Ability to gain influence and buy-in with peers and management.

Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis.

Maintain deep understanding in area of application and data architecture and technology solutions (data integration, movement, archiving, etc.); evaluate new technologies or technology opportunities and provide analysis of their potential impact to the business; Experience with industry standard data models.

Provide input to IT managers on performance of IT personnel to assist in performance evaluations, career development, and recognition.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Bachelor¿s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and solid, diverse experience in IT, with a focus in data architecture and engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Appropriate technical skills in architecting and engineering technology solutions.

In-depth knowledge of infrastructure and operations.

Comprehensive understanding of change management techniques associated with new technology implementation.

Experience producing an economic business case.

Demonstrated leadership ability.

Strong judgment; excellent analytical ability and consulting skills.

Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors.

Preferred:
Graduate degree in area of technical specialty.

POSITION SCOPE

Promotes knowledge via seminars, presentations and publications within IT and Exelon.

Determines appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate the technology to Exelon¿s business.
