Business Unit Overview Exelon's Power Team, the company's wholesale power marketing and commodity trading organization, actively trades power and fuel in order to optimize the profitability of a growing portfolio of assets and load obligations as well as the implementation of risk management objectives. Our portfolio includes the largest fleet of nuclear generation in the U.S., plus extensive coal, oil, natural gas, hydroelectric and wind generation assets. The power marketing & trading organization (Power Team) is responsible for optimize the value of Exelon Generation's portfolio. Location: Kennett Square, PA Job Description This position provides an interface between external customers such as the Independent System Operator's, Regional Transmission Organization¿s and Generating Stations as well as internal customers such as Fossil Duty Officer, Fuels, Generation Liaisons, Nuclear Duty Officer, Real Time Trading, Next Day Trading, and Power Team Management. The Power Team Generation Dispatcher proactively ensures requests for energy and ancillaries are met while ensuring compliance with NERC, RFC, and SERC standards as well as Power Team's Generation Dispatch procedures to achieve positive results for Exelon. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 1 Accountable dispatcher on shift 2 Monitors generation conditions (alarms, telemetry values, status, etc) and operates Exelon Generation dispatch functions, including coordination of system operation with plants personnel 3 Responds to ISO and/or Control Center Personnel Operating Requests (respond to reserve shortages, light load conditions, load-spinning reserve, perform instantaneous reserve checks, and participate in restoration activities) 4 Troubleshoots generation problems (call plant operator, prepare release form, update schedule, adjust generation of other units, notify ISOs) 5 Schedules generating unit outages (evaluate capacity status, evaluate and process requests for generator outages) 6 Prepares operating reports (prepare release forms, technical support group discrepancy report, supplementary status reports, minimum generation worksheet) 7 Maintains and update generation related Dispatcher Procedures 8 Supports ISO driven system and or procedure changes 9 As required, performs testing on communications equipment and system database upgrades 10 As required, updates man-machine interfaces to reflect and system upgrades and changes (EMS screen updates to support new upgrades; i.e., MW output rerates, upgrades due to changes in system controls) 11 As requested, analysis of system events that impact generation 12 Initiates diagnostic and testing services to be provided by Exelon EED or outside telecommunications providers (telecommunication problems RTUs, phones, radios) 13 Provides real time data to generator marketing function (hourly reads, Adaptive Load Forecast, etc.) 14 Provides custom reports (hourly reads, monthly generation output reports peak, load) POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: Ten years experience as a generation dispatcher or an equivalent energy related position. Knowledge of PJM, MISO and ERCOT markets. PJM System Operator Certification NERC System Operator Certification Excellent communication and problem solving skills. Ability to work in an operating environment that requires 24x7 shift work including Holidays. Ability to multi-task. Preferred: Undergraduate degree in Engineering or other technical degree.
