Job Description
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A NEW CHALLENGE?
AREVA Solar BU is seeking a Vice President CTO. This position reports directly to the AREVA Solar CEO and functionally to the BG Renewable CTO. It contributes in strong interaction with the AREVA Solar engineering team and the T&I Corporate center to new products development.
Main missions are:
  • Lead the technology roadmap in support of the Product Roadmap as defined by Engineering and Product Management, with minimum duplication of technical capabilities.
  • Manage R&D projects up to TRL 's level 5 (Technology Readiness Levels) in agreement with the Technology including technology transfer to Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Develop R&D proposals in support of AREVA Solar Inc. business objectives and manage people, budgets, and projects.
  • Deploy an aggressive IP policy along BG IP policy line,consistent with AREVA Solar Inc. governance requirements.
  • Manage new technologies awareness.
  • Bring technical Expertise support to the engineering team when needed.
  • Lead technical due diligence for the investigation of potential solar technologies.
  • Liaise with the T&I corporate Center to evaluate new technologies, elaborate technology roadmap, express needs and define R&D projects conducted by the T&I center and find appropriate technical resources in the AREVA group if not available within AREVA Solar to leverage AREVA's expertise such as material sciences, risk and failure analysis, etc.
  • Anticipate technology evolution in the market and any new technology (start-up, labs,..) that could benefit our Technology roadmap.
  • Proposes external collaborations.
  • Examples of strategic topics are:
    • Enabling technologies such as, Optics, Selective Coatings and High Performance Computing to support Engineering's modeling needs
    • Future market opportunities such as hybrid fossil/solar and solar/diesel.
    • Supporting functions including metrology, specialized instrumentation, and qualification and performance test cells
    • Long-range concepts
  • Ensure the interface with the AREVA Renewable US R&D manager to look for external funds
  • Responsible for the competence development of his collaborators in agreement with AREVA's expert Human Resources policy and for their career growth.
  • Capable of representing the company in all related technical matters of high significance. Responsible for introduction of new technology enhancement into the research area.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.
  • MS Engineering, PhD level preferred.
  • At least 15 years in R&D experience or engineering, EPC, including a minimum of 7 years project management/supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated the ability to produce results in positions of increasing responsibility in management positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, works well as a member of a team.
  • Strong business partnering, influencing, communication, stakeholder alignment, people management skills.
  • Must also be able to work effectively with a wide variety of internal organizations as well as college, community and governmental agencies.
