Business Unit Overview PECO has over 100 years of heritage, PECO is an electric and gas utility serving the Greater Philadelphia region with approximately 1.6 million electric customers, 480,000 natural gas customers, and over 27,000 miles of wires and pipes. Locations in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties Job Description PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Manage Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) projects consisting of cross-functional teams involving multiple engineering and telecommunications disciplines and multiple construction areas including contract resources. Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance of multiple construction projects and programs. Leads project teams through business case / capital approval process, development and execution of project plans and project closeout. These projects have budgets that will typically range from $250k to $10 million. Also, may manage non-construction projects with direct accountability to project execution while leading a team to accomplishing objections within a given time frame and with limited resources. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (means principal, main, major or most important duties / accountabilities that the employee performs) 1. Responsible and accountable for overall project performance for projects including leading and managing AMI projects in accordance with the Smart Meter Communications deployment strategy. 2. Ensures project costs, schedule and scope are managed, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within approved limits. 3. Interface with external and internal stakeholders to coordinate project requirements. 4. Primary communicator with the sponsor and key stakeholders on project issues, including executive level and interdepartmental presentations. 5. Ensures a good working relationship between the project team, line managers, vendors and interfacing organizations. 6. Maintain current business knowledge/acumen, including application of AMI Smart Grid communication technology solutions to deliver business results 7. Coaches and leads team members to ensure completion of assigned tasks. 8. Identify and obtain project team resources. 9. Ensures project team members understand their respective responsibilities. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: · Bachelor¿s degree in engineering or closely related discipline and 5 - 8 years project management or related experience OR high school diploma and 9 - 12 years of project management or related experience · Demonstrated and documented success at managing projects · Demonstrated strong interpersonal and time management skills. · Demonstrated strong independent judgment skills · Ability to work independently and as a team leader including the ability to handle conflicting priorities in a multi task environment. Preferred: · Bachelor's degree in engineering or Master¿s degree in Engineering or Business · Professional Engineer License POSITION SCOPE The Project Manager is an individual contributor accountable for project budgets, team performance (including management and oversight of contract resources) and developing strategic plans to implement projects for various organizations. Responsibilities also include managing scope, budget and schedule to within approved parameters and providing structured and detailed reports to the appropriate Management team. Tasks include but are not limited to, ensuring the completion of business cases, budgetary approvals, project scheduling, design and engineering tasks, vegetation management reviews, project reporting, project financial analysis, major equipment procurement, environmental analysis, obtaining real estate and relationship management with large customers, vendors, townships and regulatory agencies. Interacts routinely with key internal and external stakeholders including senior management, PECO customers, and governmental and regulatory officials. In addition to managing construction projects ranging from $250 K to $10 million each with annual expenditures ranging from of $5 million to $15 for all projects managed.
