Business Unit Overview Exelon Power is responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining the company's fossil and hydroelectric fleet of generating assets. The current fleet has more than a dozen fossil and hydroelectric plants, consisting of 109 units capable of generating approximately 8,000 megawatts of electricity in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Illinois, Texas, and Massachusetts. Exelon Power's diverse generating portfolio enables the company to be competitive in the deregulated power market during the intermediate seasons and peak demand periods. Locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas and Massachusetts Job Description PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION This position will be within the Operations Team and report to an Operations Shift Manager. This position operates, monitors, trouble shoots and maintains all equipment necessary to generate electricity. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 1Operates monitors and maintains turbines, generators, pumps, scrubber plants, industrial wastewater treatment plants, boilers, motors, combustion turbines and associated auxiliary equipment. 2Operates various repair/test equipment. 3Performs all work during an assigned shift in a safe, continuous and efficient manner while maintaining environmental and housekeeping standards within federal, state and local guidelines. Performs work per Work Management processes and ensures safety using equipment Tag out process. 4Adheres to the conduct of operations and operations fundamentals. 5Available for rotating shift work and overtime as required. 6Perform work on lube schedule. 7Perform any other duties as assigned. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: 1Associates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics or HS Diploma with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology 2Successfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position including previously passing the POSS test 3Availability for rotating shift work and overtime as required in accordance 4Good oral and written communication skills 5Basic computer skills 6Understanding of power plant prints 7Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle 8Ability to work in a power plant environment that includes climbing and walking long distances 9Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds POSITION SCOPE Position reports to Shift Manager The incumbent in this position must be able to communicate across all levels of the organization. The level III Operator must have previously passed the level I and level II Operator testing requirements plus pass the level III qualifications testing before moving into this role. The level III Operator¿s electrical blocking knowledge must have continued to increase.
