Job Description
LOOKING FOR A NEW OPPORTUNITY? ENJOY A NEW EXCITING CAREER IN A GROWING INDUSTRY! CANBERRA - AREVA is seeking an Assembly Technician in our Detectors Production Department in Meriden, CT location.
The Assembly Technician will be required to build assemblies and sub-assemblies into housings to be used for radiation detection.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
  • Building and evacuation of various cryogenics hardware.
  • Leak checking cryostats, dewars, etc.
  • Cleaning hardware.
  • Assembling FETs.
  • Mounting and handling of detectors.
  • Epoxying feedthrus and Be windows.
  • Maintaining stocks / supplies.
  • Maintaining equipment.
  • Soldering.
  • Inspect manufactured items for cosmetics, workmanship, soldering, conformance to drawings, and quality standards.
  • Verify proper revision levels and markings per prints.
  • Follow priority schedules.
  • Assist team members and provide support.
  • Work with Engineering to identify and correct problems.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 or more years of mechanical assembly or related manufacturing experience
  • Mechanical ability
  • Ability to follow blueprints and written procedures
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and components
  • Good math skills
  • Knowledge of metric measurements
  • Ability to handle chemicals safely
  • Very good soldering skills
  • Knowledge and use of hand tools
  • Basic vacuum and leak testing knowledge
  • Inspection experience, some microscope usage
