South Mississippi Electric, a rural electric generation and transmission utility, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for its coal fired generating facility in Purvis, MS.  Responsibilities will include designing, planning and coordinating the installation, South Mississippi Electric, a rural electric generation and transmission utility, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for its coal fired generating facility in Purvis, MS.  Responsibilities will include designing, planning and coordinating the installation, repair, and maintenance of on-site equipment, systems, and structures.  BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years experience directly related to maintenance in the power production industry.  Incumbent must have in-depth practical knowledge of boilers, turbines, heat exchangers, generators, and associated auxiliary rotary equipment having a wide range of skills & proven track record of maintenance techniques.  Must be knowledgeable in the use and application of predictive technologies such as infrared, vibration, ultrasonic, oil analysis, alignment and balancing.  May direct the work of others; therefore, leadership skills are a plus.  Experience working with vendors, contractors, and plant personnel is essential.  Position requires advanced computer skills and the ability to read, interpret, comprehend, and apply information relative to prints, schematics, and service and technical manuals.  Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to maintenance activities is required.   Salary commensurate with qualifications.   Excellent fringe benefits program.
