Business Unit Overview Exelon's Power Team, the company's wholesale power marketing and commodity trading organization, actively trades power and fuel in order to optimize the profitability of a growing portfolio of assets and load obligations as well as the implementation of risk management objectives. Our portfolio includes the largest fleet of nuclear generation in the U.S., plus extensive coal, oil, natural gas, hydroelectric and wind generation assets. The power marketing & trading organization (Power Team) is responsible for optimize the value of Exelon Generation's portfolio. Location: Kennett Square, PA Job Description PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION The Fuels Originator will work as part of the Fuels team which manages all of Exelon Generation's fossil fuels trading activities which includes optimization of transportation and storage contracts, retail and wholesale load management and proprietary trading. This role will be responsible for identifying, developing and executing wholesale and retail natural gas transactions and associated contracts. Key activities would include developing relationships with key asset holders and large commercial and industrial gas consumers in Exelon¿s operating areas, identifying asset management/acquisition opportunities, renewing existing contracts, and providing market insight and intelligence gained through daily interactions in the market. The transactions typically performed by this position will be within the existing approved portfolio plan time frame and authority, have the ability to be priced by the Fuels desk, and be executed in a short time frame. Typical counterparties will include local distribution companies, interstate pipelines, storage operators, large end users, gas-fired electric power plant operators and wholesale gas marketers. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 1 Develop transactional opportunities in accordance with the Power Team strategies, manage relationships with existing counterparties and develop new relationships 2 Negotiate all financial and operational terms of wholesale and retail natural gas contracts 3 Develop and implement value add strategies related to the natural gas portfolio 4 Provide input to strategies for organic growth as well as potential gas asset and load acquisition 5 Provide market intelligence related to products being offered in the market, price levels at which transactions are being executed, and what our counterparties are doing in the market POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: Undergraduate degree required with preferred concentration in technical or business-related area or equivalent experience Self-motivated to achieve success in a rapidly evolving environment Demonstrates knowledge of significant aspects of the wholesale and/or retail natural gas business, especially in trading/transactions and market fundamentals Strong analytical skills Eight years relevant experience in energy markets. Demonstrated strong negotiating skills, particularly with structured transactions in the energy markets Challenged within a results-oriented team environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products Preferred: MBA Significant relationships within the natural gas industry which can provide insights into business trends and leads for business transactions. Relevant experience in both physically and financially settled natural gas-based trading instruments with exposure to Northeast, Gulf Coast or Midcontinent gas markets. Structured transactional experience in upstream, midstream and downstream natural gas markets.
