Job Description

NAES Corporation, a leading provider of 3rd party O&M services to the Independent Power Industry, is currently recruiting for a Lead Wind Technician for the Keenan II Wind Station located about 10 miles outside of Woodward, OK.  

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Lead Wind Technician shall have responsibility for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Keenan Wind turbines and site.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Monitors the status of 66 Siemens 2.3 wind turbine generators and Balance of Plant systems.  Understand the material condition of the equipment, what maintenance has been completed, what is coming due and what challenges must be resolved to complete it on time.
  • Responds to alarms and abnormal conditions by troubleshooting and taking appropriate corrective action,
  • Performs basic routine maintenance duties on wind turbines,
  • Performs basic routine maintenance and upkeep of site.
  • Keep the plant manager informed of the status of equipment and issues that can lead to lost availability so that they can be dealt with proactively.
  • Be capable of supervising other wind technicians to complete preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with the schedule.
  • Be able to order and track the status of parts until delivered.
  • Provide setup of workload forecast, schedules, inventory of labor/spares/tools, and documentation of work completed using MP-2.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • The ability to conduct troubleshooting, to work from technical drawings and technical manuals, and to use electrical diagrams, logic diagrams and control circuitry diagrams,
  • The ability to use diagnostic tools and hand and power driven tools,
  • The ability to use CMMS to forecast, schedule, and document reactive and preventative maintenance.
  • Must be physically able to routinely climb to the top of a 265 foot wind turbine tower,
  • Must successfully complete a plant technical examination.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports directly to the Plant Manager,
  • Supervises the work assignments, work quality and performance of Wind Technicians.
  • Works along with the Siemens service and maintenance technicians and supervisors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.

Must be physically able to routinely climb to the top of a 265 foot wind turbine tower and work in adverse weather conditions.  Must be physically able to carry up to 75 pounds.

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post employment random drug screening. 

There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two Years of equivalent experience specific to operations and reactive/preventative maintenance of wind turbines.
  • Completion of TMP's 1-3
  • Associates degree in a technical field is desirable,
  • Computer literacy is required, including spreadsheet and work processing programs.
