Job Description

NAES Corporation, a leading provider of 3rd party O&M services to the Independent Power Industry, is currently recruiting for a DCS Engineer for the Sandy Creek facility currently under construction in Riesel, TX.

Sandy Creek is a 900 megawatt coal-fired power plant currently under construction in Riesel, Texas. Consisting of one IHI supercritical pulverized coal boiler, one Toshiba steam turbine generator and Alstom air-quality control systems equipment, it is one of the largest new coal projects in the U.S. and is expected to generate electricity for more than 900,000 Texas homes and businesses. The plant will utilize Powder River Basin coal.

Responsibilities:

Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, configuration and logic design changes as needed for Emerson Ovation distributed control system.

Analyze new requirements, evaluate, identify, and implement resulting system modifications.

Manage DCS hardware, software, including upgrades and software changes.

Perform and track preventive maintenance, backups, and documentation on DCS hardware and software.

Work with operations and engineering to make required interface, screen and report modifications.

Communicate DCS changes to operations personnel and provide training.

Act as primary contact with Emerson for all communications concerning DCS system.

Responsible for all aspects of the plant DCS

Qualifications:

B.S. in electrical, controls, electronics, or computer engineering and at least three years experience as DCS engineer in the power, petrochemical, chemical or paper required.  Alternatively, Associates degree or no degree and at least 10 years experience as DSC engineer or technician in the above industries will suffice.

Experience with Emerson Ovation systems is desired.  However, equivalent experience with other DCS systems will be considered.

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills required.

Experience with Toshiba or other turbine control systems is desired.

Experience with Modbus, Profibus, and other communication protocols are desired.

Strong customer and teamwork skills required.

Other Requirements:

Occasional travel required, typically less than 10%.

Ability to respond to call-outs, and work extended hours as needed.

Ability to temporarily work shifts other than day shift on a temporary basis.

Ability to work independently and display initiative.

Good planning, organization, and communication skills.
