POSITION SUMMARY: OVEC/IKEC
Responsible for planning, budgeting, coordinating and supervising the plant environmental and laboratory functions. Supervise plant personnel in performing environmental compliance and support activities and projects. Supervise the analysis of coal, lubricants, water, air, chemicals, byproducts, and other material in connection with all power plant operations, related system, and maintenance. Responsible for providing technical and manpower support to ensure plant compliance with governmental environmental regulations.

AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Within the limits of delegated authority and in accordance with established policies and procedures is responsible for the fulfillment of the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain familiarity with, enforce and observe all safety rules and regulations, including those in the Company Safety Manual and Safety and Health Policies and Programs Manual; when supervising or coordinating work, assure that safe work practices are followed. Make suggestions for the improvement of the safety program and encourage others to do so.
Takes ownership of the entire facility and the processes followed in all areas of the plant, ensuring procedures, people, and technology are in place to prevent environmental excursions.
Plan, organize, schedule, coordinate and supervise, plant environmental and laboratory activities to maximize the safe, efficient, and economical generation of electric power.
Supervise the environmental and laboratory planning in relation to plant outages including developing work flow charts and critical paths, analyzing material needs and overseeing the procurement of materials and equipment.
Supervise the collection and evaluation of data.
Responsible for the maintenance of proper standards in the sampling, preparing, and testing of coal, ash, water, byproducts, and other materials.
Supervise plant environmental programs and activities including preparation, review, and recommendations of guidelines and procedures.
Maintain contact with System Environmental Affairs concerning plant operating and compliance status.
Industrial hygiene duties and responsibilities.
Prepare reports and maintain records of plant environmental conditions; make recommendations regarding operating efficiencies and environmental compliance issues.
Administer prescribed Company personnel policies and practices; make recommendations pertaining to hiring, classification, change of classification, rate change and discipline of department employees; carry out appropriate measures of corrective discipline with employees under his/her supervision.
Investigate causes of complaint and assist when necessary.
Keep informed of the latest practices and procedures with regard to the development of related plant equipment, its design and operation and consistently apply these to insure efficiency and economy in the operation of the department.
Perform duties in accordance with all applicable federal and state safety laws and regulations, and all applicable company safety rules and operating procedures; when supervising others, assure that safe work practices are followed and conduct safety meetings; make suggestions for the improvement of the safety program and encourage others to do so.

Salary Information: $6672/Mth Minimum - $8007/Mth Midpoint *Note: Education and relevant experience will be used to determine appropriate salary. Minimum Requirements DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachleor of Science degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or environmental or related field along with 8 to10 years experience in power plant or similar industry. Coal fired plant experience is prefered. Other industry experience may be considered; 5 years of supervisory experience required. Masters degree preferred, but not required. Ohio E.P.A license required or must be knowledgeable about Ohio EPA laws. Ohio P.E. license desired but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is performed primarily in a plant setting.
