NAES Corporation, a leading provider of 3rd party O&M services to the Independent Power Industry, is currently recruiting for the following position: NAES Turbine Services, located in Houston, Texas, provides expert parts repair and field services on gas turbines, steam turbines, and major rotating equipment. The field services group provides comprehensive field maintenance for on-site inspections and overhauls of large rotating equipment. The 35,000 square foot shop provides heavy industrial gas and steam turbine parts repair and refurbishment services. GENERAL SUMMARY Responsible for performing payroll and billing duties for the NAES Staffing Services division. Prepare and remit NAES payroll taxes. Process NAES corporate and plant payrolls. PRIMARY DUTIES Prepare and distribute a weekly, multi-state, job costing payroll for NAES Staffing Services employees including maintenance of related data on computerized accounting system and preparation of related journal entries. Prepare weekly invoices for NAES Staffing Services (NSS) division. Maintain and reconcile employee benefits schedules, including flex and disability. Reconcile NSS payroll tax liability accounts quarterly. Prepare and pay NAES federal and state tax payroll deposits on a weekly, bi-monthly, and monthly basis. Responsible for NAES corporate and assigned plant payrolls. Responsible for preparing and filing Unemployment Claims, Workers Compensation claims, Garnishments, and Employment Verifications. Pay employees per diem, mobilization, and expense reimbursement via ComData cards. Maintain and update Desk Procedures Manual, as necessary. Perform other related duties as assigned. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY Operate from established and well known procedures under general directions and minimum supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operating guidelines. Informally makes recommendations concerning long-range planning. Job encounters recurring work situations with some variations from the norm, involving a high degree of complexity. Errors may affect individual employee morale as well as financial statements and their credibility. Accuracy of payroll recording is essential as errors may affect accounts payable, accounts receivable and the recording of revenue, which in turn affect the presentation of financial data essential to the management of the company. Contacts are normally made with others inside the company including other departments, field site offices, immediate associates and own supervisor. Contacts are normally made on own initiative requiring explanation, discussion, interpretation or approvals. All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customers' needs are being met. SPECIFIC SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Understanding of professional accounting concepts and financial reconciliation and analysis. A thorough knowledge of multi-state tax laws and wage and hour laws. Proficiency in computer software, including word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and accounting systems. Ability to proficiently operate a 10-key calculator. Ability to effectively establish working relationships throughout operational groups. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communications skills. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Confidentiality is required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Associates degree in accounting or equivalent education and/or experience is required. Minimum of three to five years of experience in payroll is required, with strong experience and understanding of multi-state payroll processing and taxes, audit and reconciliation. WORK CONDITIONS Normal working hours are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday though Friday. Overtime may be required during periods of high workload or major projects.
