Job Summary:
Manage and provide direction for achieving and maintaining a Maintenance Rule and Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program strategy for NPG assets, consistent with NPG strategies.  Drive the implementation and use of effective Maintenance Rule and PM Program processes through interaction with site equipment managers and NPG Peer Teams to achieve sustainable reliability improvements.  Manage and provide direction  for achieving reliable and cost-effective equipment performance at NPG sites, through Maintenance Rule and the PM Program.  Provide industry leadership and industry-level technical expertise in Equipment Reliability and the Maintenance Rule Program in order to effectively address TVA's interests and objectives; maintain high levels of industry/regulatory credibility; and provide quality support to the nuclear sites.  Responsible for development and effective implementation of strategic initiatives to reduce cost and optimize performance for safe and reliable operation of NPG equipment.  Provides NPG leadership and management to ensure the Maintenance Rule  and PM programs are recognized with industry best.

Primary Responsibilities:
º Serve as the central focus for all NPG Maintenance Rule Program and PM Program performance issues taking inputs from all sites and appropriately coordinating NPG strategies to achieve an acceptable solution.
º Lead and/or participate as an individual contributor in reliability oriented studies and evaluations.
º Identify or develop appropriate Maintenance Rule and PM Program metrics that define the target performance level as well as defining the current level of performance.
º Govern Maintenance Rule Program processes and PM Program performance, by recommending policies and rules that guide the development of methods, procedures and practices to achieve desired outcomes consistent with industry best performance.  Initiates changes as appropriate to meet these standards and preserve operating margins.  Promote and maintain high level of regulatory confidence in NPG approaches and implementation.
º Provides oversight by monitoring the Site Plant Health Committee and site equipment reliability processes (PM Program, failure trending, Maintenance Rule Expert Panel, Corrective Action Program) and performance results to ensure desired outcomes are met.  
º Work with NPG Component/Program Managers to prepare Long Term Asset Management Plans
º Coordinate NPG Maintenance Rule Program and PM Program assessments.  Lead and/or participate as an individual contributor in site and industry Maintenance Rule Program and PM Program assessments.
º Participate in EPRI Plant Support Engineering and the INPO/EPRI Maintenance Rule Users Groups to maintain a high level of industry involvement and participation to effectively bring industry lessons learned, innovative methods/tools, and program/process best practices to NPG sites.  Provide a leadership role on associated industry committees, owners groups, etc. to promote industry/regulatory credibility and achievement of TVA's interests in industry direction. Continually benchmarks industry for best industry practices related to Maintenance Rule and PM Programs.
º Establish and maintain Maintenance Rule and PM Program related tools (Critical Components, Operating Experience (OE), Corrective Maintenance (CM), Work Order (WO), Problem Evaluation Report (PER), Long Range Planning, Plant Health, System Monitoring data bases, Equipment Reliability Metrics).  Own Maintenance Rule software applications.
º Maintain accountability in identifying and implementing new strategies.  Trend and assess site equipment failure events and major equipment issues for needed improvements and facilitate/direct those improvements through changes in equipment reliability strategies and processes.
º Support the plants as an additional resource that is available as needed to support emerging issues and augment special projects.  Facilitate or support root cause evaluations during outage and non-outage periods
º Act as Technical Contract Manager for applicable support contracts for Maintenance Rule and PM Programs.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
º B.S. degree in engineering.
º Eight or more years of experience in nuclear engineering experience with at least 2 of those years in Maintenance Rule or equipment reliability related activities.  
º Broad technical background in a wide variety of component technologies.
º Good understanding of the relative risk significance of plant systems and components, as well as inspection and testing and an ability to understand the application to equipment reliability and condition based equipment monitoring.  
º Ability to perform and understand basic financial analysis of proposed solutions for equipment issues.
º Excellent organizational skills.  
º Must be able to 1) effectively impact a culture change in the organization. 2) Maintain effective interfaces with site engineering, maintenance and operations management and personnel; other interfacing TVA corporate organizations; key industry groups; and regulatory personnel; 3) Demonstrate initiative and innovation; 4) Maintain effective communication skills, presentation, written and oral; 5) Maintain or develop effective technical contract management.
