Mgr Transmission Projects Job In Gahanna Ohio

Responsible for managing a Transmission project management organization, which is accountable for executing transmission and distribution capital projects.   These projects may encompass multiple AEP transmission regions and Distribution operating companies.   Reporting to this position will be Associate Project Managers and Project Managers who are responsible for performing project management functions and coordinating the inception, scoping, approval, construction and closeout of transmission and distribution projects.   Additionally, this position will provide leadership, develop partnerships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders project status.   Significant interfacing and coordination with Transmission Planning groups, Project Engineering Management, and Construction Management within Transmission Engineering & Project Services, Transmission Region management within Transmission System & Region Operations, and Operating Company Management will also be required.
Provide administrative supervision for employees who may be dispersed in multiple work locations in different states and is responsible for distributing the workload accordingly.   

Administer and manage an effective group of Project Managers and Associate Project Managers to handle both large and small projects, which cover all the transmission regions and distribution operating companies.

Monitor, manage and report on overall costs, schedules, cash flows and capital expenditures for assigned portfolios.   

Represent the Transmission organization to stakeholders on applicable sponsored projects.

Provide strategic thinking, planning, risk assessment and prioritization of project activities.   

Evaluate the risk issue management needs for each portfolio and advise stakeholders accordingly.

Provide direct contact with an assigned Transmission Planning Group and a team of Project Managers in developing initial functional project scopes and budgets and providing cost and status reports for all projects developed by that Transmission Planning Group.

Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards, and rules of the Company and regulations and procedures as required by federal, state or local regulating agencies.

Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or Construction Management with typically a minimum of 13 years' related experience,   or equivalent education and experience.   Demonstrated ability to manage projects and people with a minimum of 5 years in supervision/management of project budgets and multiple work groups.   Project management professional registration (PMP) is required or must be obtained within 12 months.
