AREVA is posting this opportunity to identify and consider viable candidates for upcoming Electrical Engineers at our various locations in North America. Responsibilities of qualified individuals will include:

Under direct supervision, performs standard engineering tasks utilizing established practices and procedures. Assignments may involve responsibility for planning and conducting a complete task or portion of a larger more diverse project under the direction of more experienced engineering personnel. This position requires candidate to follow applicable engineering procedures in order to align work processes with regulatory and customer requirements and to develop skills in order to ensure that the team/unit reaches required level of performance to meet project objectives.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
  • Receives assistance and instructions on unusual or more complex features and possible solutions, as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
  • May independently evaluate, select and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Works on special projects, as directed.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.

Typical Projects This Group May Work On:
  • Nuclear Plant modification/modernization projects including, detailed design drawings, equipment specifications and design change packages.
  • Electrical systems analysis including short-circuit, voltage drop, transient analysis and arc-flash calculations using ETAP Software.
  • New plant design, including licensing as well as detailed design.
  • 10CFR50, Appendix R Analysis involving circuit analysis, cable routing and fire area compliance assessments.
  • Studies and engineering evaluations detailing recommended and alternative technical approaches to resolve design related issues or to justifiy existing conditions.Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) business group focuses on the modernization of critical plant systems to support improved reliability, safety, and extended plant life.
The Electrical Engineering Department is part of the AREVA Engineering & Projects Organization within the I&C and Electrical Division of Design Engineering. The Electrical Engineering team has provided engineering support to utilities and heavy industry for over twenty years and consists of over eighty engineers and technicians.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering/Engineering Technology plus 0-2 years of engineering experience.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals as they relate to design and calculations.
  • Willingness to travel or accept site assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new assignments and challenges.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Having successfully passed the EIT/FE is a plus.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Access and/or ETAP Software is a plus.
  • Prior work experience with an engineering firm is a plus.
  • Customer Oriented - Use the most effective methods so that the group can deliver competitive solutions in terms of quality and timeliness.
  • Process Oriented - Apply engineering procedures and tools, propose technical options to management, and direct issues to the right decision makers to reach a competitive level of technical efficiency.
  • Finance Oriented - Maximize profit through planning and control of cost and revenue.
TRAVEL
Must be willing to travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally and/or relocate as necessary.
